Chorale Roanne Topples Nanterre 93-83 in Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A

Roanne, October 3, 2026 – Chorale Roanne used a fast start and a decisive fourth-quarter push to defeat Nanterre 93-83 in Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A. The home side led for most of the night, but Nanterre made several runs that kept the outcome in doubt until the final minutes.

Roanne’s victory was built on efficient offense and timely perimeter shooting. The team moved the ball well, attacked the paint, and knocked down key three-pointers when Nanterre threatened to close the gap. The win gives Roanne an important home result in the French top flight and adds to Nanterre’s early-season road struggles.

Match Overview

Roanne came out firing, scoring 28 points in the first quarter and building a 28-19 lead. Nanterre settled in during the second quarter, using its interior scoring to cut the deficit, but Roanne answered with a barrage of three-pointers before halftime. The home side took a 50-42 lead into the locker room.

The third quarter belonged to Nanterre for long stretches. A 10-0 run midway through the period brought the visitors within two points at 64-62, and it looked as though the game might flip entirely. But Roanne responded with a 12-2 surge of its own, restoring a double-digit cushion and carrying a 72-64 lead into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, Roanne controlled the pace and converted free throws down the stretch. Nanterre never got closer than six points in the final five minutes, and Roanne closed out the win with solid execution on both ends.

Key Moments

• First-quarter explosion: Roanne scored 28 points in the opening period and led 28-19.
• Nanterre’s 10-0 run: The visitors cut the lead to 64-62 in the third quarter, creating real tension.
• Roanne’s 12-2 response: The home side answered immediately and never surrendered the lead again.
• Free-throw execution: Roanne made 20-of-24 from the line, including 8-of-10 in the fourth quarter.

Tactical Story

Roanne’s offense was at its best when it played inside-out. The team established an early paint presence, then kicked the ball to shooters when Nanterre’s defense collapsed. Roanne finished 11-of-24 from three-point range and recorded 21 assists, highlighting its willingness to make the extra pass. The home side also won the rebounding battle 38-33, limiting Nanterre’s second-chance points.

Nanterre’s half-court defense had trouble containing Roanne’s dribble penetration. The visitors switched between man-to-man and zone looks, but neither slowed Roanne’s rhythm for long. Offensively, Nanterre shot well inside the arc but struggled from deep, making just 6-of-22 three-point attempts. Turnovers also hurt the visitors, especially in the first and fourth quarters, when Roanne turned defense into quick points.

Standout Players

Roanne’s leading scorer finished with 25 points and 6 assists, controlling the game from the backcourt and hitting several tough shots in the third quarter when Nanterre was surging. The team’s starting frontcourt combined for 30 points and 18 rebounds, giving Roanne a balanced attack that was difficult to defend.

Nanterre’s top performer scored 21 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, but he did not receive enough consistent help from the perimeter. The visitors’ bench contributed 24 points, yet Nanterre’s inability to string together defensive stops in the fourth quarter proved costly.

Standings and Season Impact

The win improves Chorale Roanne’s position in the Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A standings and strengthens its home-court advantage. Nanterre, meanwhile, will look to correct its road form after another difficult away outing. In a league where playoff seeding is often separated by just a few wins, head-to-head results like this one can carry significant weight later in the season.

Roanne will take confidence from its balanced scoring and clutch free-throw shooting. For Nanterre, the challenge is clear: tighten up perimeter defense and find more offensive consistency when the game slows down. Both teams continue their Pro A campaigns with plenty of basketball still ahead.
