Chorale Roanne left Boulazac with a hard-earned 81-79 road victory in Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A action, spoiling the hosts' evening with a composed fourth-quarter finish. In a game defined by defense and clutch shot-making, the visitors made just enough plays down the stretch to steal a result that had looked in doubt for much of the night.

Match Overview

This was a gritty, low-possession battle between two teams who know each other well. Neither side managed to build a double-digit lead, and the score stayed within two possessions for almost the entire second half, turning the final minutes into a tense, half-court chess match.

• Final score: Boulazac 79, Chorale Roanne 81
• Competition: Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A
• Quarter breakdown: 20-22, 21-19, 18-20, 20-20
• Margin: 2 points

Roanne's narrow edge came from a slightly better shooting night from the free-throw line and a handful of timely offensive rebounds that extended possessions at critical moments.

Key Moments

The fourth quarter was where the game was decided. Boulazac took a two-point lead with roughly five minutes remaining after a strong drive and a foul, but Roanne responded immediately with a corner three and a transition layup to reclaim the advantage. From there, the visitors slowed the pace, ran their half-court sets deep into the shot clock and forced Boulazac to defend for long stretches.

Trailing by two with under 20 seconds left, Boulazac had a chance to tie or win it. Their initial play was well designed, creating a driving lane, but Roanne's help defense arrived on time and contested the final attempt without fouling. The rebound fell to a Roanne guard, who calmly dribbled out the clock.

Tactical Story

Roanne's game plan revolved around controlling the tempo and limiting Boulazac's transition opportunities. They dropped their guards back on misses, communicated well on switches, and forced the hosts into a series of late-clock jumpers. Offensively, they leaned on ball-screen action to create mismatches, attacking the paint when Boulazac's big men stepped out too far.

Boulazac, for their part, were effective on the offensive glass and generated a healthy number of second-chance points, which kept them in front for much of the third quarter. Their downfall was a cold stretch from three-point range in the final period, going just one of six from deep when the game was on the line, while Roanne converted the few clean looks they generated.

Standout Players

Roanne's veteran playmaker was the calmest player on the floor in the closing minutes, orchestrating the offense, hitting a crucial pull-up jumper and finishing with a team-high assist count. Their starting forward added a double-double, doing the dirty work on the boards and providing a steady interior scoring presence.

For Boulazac, the leading scorer produced a strong all-around performance, mixing drives with mid-range shots, while their center battled hard in the paint all evening. Despite the defeat, the hosts showed enough offensive variety to suggest better results are coming.

Season Impact

Road wins in Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro A are precious, and Chorale Roanne will view this as a statement result, one that reinforces their credentials as a team capable of grinding out victories in hostile arenas. Boulazac, meanwhile, will be frustrated to have let a winnable home game slip away. The fine margins in this league mean such losses can prove costly when the standings tighten later in the season, and both clubs will be eager to build on the lessons from a fiercely competitive night.
