Kibirkstis Women produced an offensive showcase in the Lithuanian Women's Basketball League on October 8, 2026, racing past Fortuna Klaipeda (W) 102-76. A fast start and a deep, balanced attack allowed the home team to control the game from the opening quarter and never seriously relinquish the lead.

The 102-point outburst was one of the standout team performances of the round, combining efficient shooting, quick ball movement, and aggressive transition play. Fortuna Klaipeda had stretches of good offense, but could not match Kibirkstis’s pace or depth.

Match overview

Kibirkstis set the tone immediately, scoring 28 points in the first quarter while holding Fortuna to 18. The home side pushed the ball at every opportunity and found open shooters against a Klaipeda defense that struggled to rotate quickly enough. By halftime, Kibirkstis led 55-38 and looked firmly in command.

The third quarter brought more of the same. Kibirkstis added 23 points and kept Fortuna at 19, extending the advantage to 78-57. In the final period, the home team’s bench maintained the energy, adding 24 more points to complete the 102-76 victory.

How Kibirkstis built the win

Kibirkstis won this game with speed and unselfishness. The team recorded 28 assists on its 38 made field goals, constantly finding the extra pass against a scrambling Klaipeda defense. The fast-break battle was one-sided, with Kibirkstis outscoring Fortuna 24-8 in transition.

Three-point shooting also separated the sides. Kibirkstis knocked down 11 shots from beyond the arc, stretching the floor and opening driving lanes. When Fortuna closed out hard, Kibirkstis attacked the rim or kicked out to the next open shooter. The result was a shooting performance above 50% from the field and a comfortable margin throughout the second half.

Fortuna Klaipeda’s response

Fortuna Klaipeda deserves credit for competing until the final whistle. The visitors found some success inside, scoring on second-chance opportunities and drawing fouls in the paint. However, 19 turnovers repeatedly undermined their momentum, and Kibirkstis punished almost every mistake.

Fortuna’s leading scorers combined for a respectable point total, but the team lacked the defensive stops needed to slow Kibirkstis’s runs. When Klaipeda trimmed the deficit slightly in the third quarter, Kibirkstis responded with a quick 8-0 burst that restored full control.

Season impact

The win strengthens Kibirkstis Women’s position in the Lithuanian Women's Basketball League standings and sends a message that they will be a difficult team to beat at home. Their depth was on full display, with six players scoring at least eight points and the bench contributing 34 points.

For Fortuna Klaipeda (W), the loss highlights areas to improve, particularly ball security and transition defense. The team has enough offensive pieces to stay competitive, but matching the intensity of a contender like Kibirkstis for four quarters remains the challenge. The next fixtures will show whether Klaipeda can turn this result into a learning moment.
