How the Game Was Won

Zalgiris’s half-court offense was efficient when it mattered most. They executed their pick-and-roll actions well, creating open shots and attacking closeouts. Defensively, they forced Nevezis into tough contested jumpers in the final two minutes and secured crucial rebounds.

Nevezis played with great energy and intensity throughout. They attacked the rim, moved the ball well, and hit several big shots to stay in the game. However, a few costly turnovers and missed free throws in the closing stretch proved to be the difference.

Tactical Story

Zalgiris focused on controlling the paint, using their size to score inside and draw fouls. They also mixed up their defensive coverages, switching between man-to-man and zone to keep Nevezis off balance. Nevezis countered with quick ball movement and aggressive drives, but Zalgiris’s length bothered them at the rim.

Nevezis’s coaching staff made good adjustments, particularly in the fourth quarter, using ball screens to free up shooters. But Zalgiris’s veteran presence showed in the final minutes, as they slowed the pace and executed their half-court sets with precision.

Standout Performers

Zalgiris’s backcourt was instrumental, scoring key baskets and making smart decisions under pressure. Their forwards controlled the glass and provided timely scoring inside. The bench also contributed important minutes, helping Zalgiris maintain their intensity.

For Nevezis, the leading scorers had strong performances, keeping the team within striking distance. Their guards attacked fearlessly, and the big men battled on the boards. In the end, they fell just short against one of the league’s top teams.

Season Impact

This win keeps Zalgiris Kaunas on track in the Lietuvos Krepsinio Lyga standings. Road victories are always valuable, and escaping a tough environment like Kedainiai will boost their confidence. The result also reinforces their ability to win close games.

Nevezis Kedainiai can take pride in pushing a powerhouse to the limit. The loss is disappointing, but the performance shows they can compete with anyone in the league. If they can clean up their late-game execution, they will convert these close losses into wins in the future.
