Key moments

The decisive stretch came early in the fourth quarter. LCC University had cut the deficit to four points and had possession with a chance to make it a one-possession game. Siauliai’s defense forced a contested shot, and the visitors converted at the other end to restore their cushion. That sequence set the pattern for the closing minutes, with Siauliai answering every LCC University basket with a composed offensive possession.

LCC University’s best spell came midway through the third quarter, when their defensive pressure created a few turnovers and quick scoring opportunities. However, they could not sustain the run. Siauliai’s guards slowed the tempo and ensured the visitors entered the final period with the lead intact.

Tactical story

Siauliai’s half-court defense was well organized, closing down driving lanes and forcing LCC University into contested perimeter shots. The visitors also controlled the defensive glass, limiting second-chance points and allowing them to dictate the pace. On offense, Siauliai relied on patient ball movement and timely cuts, often finding open looks after several passes.

LCC University competed hard on the defensive end and made life difficult for Siauliai for long stretches. Their issue was offensive consistency. The hosts struggled to convert pressure into points and had several possessions end without a quality shot. In a game where scoring was at a premium, those empty trips proved costly.

Standout performers and season impact

Siauliai’s backcourt played a key role in the win, managing the clock and making important decisions in the fourth quarter. Their interior players also contributed with strong rebounding and physical defense around the basket. LCC University’s effort was led by their defensive intensity and rebounding, but the hosts will need more efficient scoring in future cup fixtures.

The 47-41 result sends Siauliu Siauliai (W) forward in the Lithuania Women’s Basketball Cup and gives the team a valuable knockout win. For LCC University (W), the narrow defeat provides both encouragement and a clear focus for improvement. The head-to-head result will be remembered as a tightly contested cup battle decided by execution in the final quarter.
