• Fourth-quarter fireworks: The teams combined for 54 points in the final period, trading baskets at a furious pace.

Tactical Story

Vichy-Clermont’s offense was built on ball movement and perimeter precision. They repeatedly attacked Rouen’s closeouts, either knocking down threes or driving into open lanes. Their 26 assists reflected a selfless approach that kept Rouen’s defense guessing all night.

Rouen countered with a more physical inside-out attack, led by their frontcourt. They dominated the paint at times, but their inability to convert open three-point looks proved costly. Defensively, Rouen struggled to contain Vichy-Clermont’s guards in the pick-and-roll, especially in the fourth quarter when the visitors scored on five consecutive possessions.

Standout Players

Jalen Riley led Vichy-Clermont with 26 points and 7 assists, including the go-ahead three in the final minute. Mamadou Guisse added 21 points and 9 rebounds, while Étienne Rocher contributed 14 points off the bench. For Rouen, Malcolm Gountas scored 25 points and Alexandre Chassang posted 20 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Season Impact

Winning on the road in Pro B is never easy, and Vichy-Clermont’s ability to execute late suggests they will be a factor in the playoff race. Rouen, meanwhile, will focus on defensive consistency and three-point shooting after a performance that was good enough to win for 38 minutes. The head-to-head result could prove important if both teams are fighting for the same playoff seeding later in the season.
