Metropolitans 92 suffered an 82-93 home defeat against Entente Orleanaise in the Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro B on 24 October, as the visitors produced a composed second-half performance to take control of a tightly contested fixture. Orléans’ perimeter shooting and late-game execution proved decisive in a game that had been balanced for long periods.

Match overview

Metropolitans 92 started brightly in front of their home crowd, using their size inside to create early scoring opportunities. The first quarter was played at a high tempo, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to establish a significant lead. Orléans stayed patient, moving the ball through their half-court sets and finding open shooters on the wing.

The second quarter followed a similar pattern, but Orléans began to edge ahead through efficient three-point shooting. Metropolitans remained within reach at halftime, thanks largely to their offensive rebounding and ability to draw fouls. The game turned after the break, when Orléans increased their defensive pressure and forced a series of costly turnovers.

Key moments

The decisive run arrived midway through the third quarter. Orléans connected on consecutive three-pointers and added a fast-break layup to push the lead into double figures. Metropolitans called timeout, but the visitors maintained their momentum by controlling the defensive glass and slowing the game down on offense.

In the fourth quarter, Metropolitans attempted to rally behind their inside game and free-throw shooting. They reduced the deficit to single digits on more than one occasion, but Orléans always had an answer. A late three-pointer and a pair of composed free throws sealed the result for the visitors.

Tactical story

Orléans’ offense was built on ball movement and spacing. Their guards consistently broke down the first line of defense, drawing help before finding open shooters. When Metropolitans switched to a more aggressive closeout scheme, Orléans attacked the closeout with dribble penetration and kick-out passes.

Metropolitans’ problems came at the other end. They relied heavily on isolations and post-ups, which allowed Orléans to load up defensively and contest shots. The home side also struggled in transition defense, conceding several easy baskets after missed shots. Those extra possessions proved costly in a game decided by a handful of runs.

Standout performers

Orléans’ backcourt controlled the pace and made big shots in the second half. Their leading scorer combined perimeter accuracy with smart decision-making, while the frontcourt battled on the boards and protected the rim. Metropolitans’ inside players produced solid numbers, but the team’s perimeter shooting and turnover count undermined their efforts.

Season impact

The win gives Entente Orleanaise an important boost in the Pro B standings and strengthens their case in the race for promotion. For Metropolitans 92, the defeat highlights the need for greater consistency on both ends of the floor. With the Pro B season moving quickly, both teams will look to build on the lessons from this fixture in their next outings.
