Denain Voltaire delivered one of the most convincing performances of their Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro B campaign, dismantling Aix-Maurienne 95-77 at home. A dominant first half set the platform for a comfortable victory, as the hosts controlled both ends of the floor and never allowed their opponents to establish any real foothold in the contest.

Match Overview

Denain came out with clear intent, moving the ball sharply and attacking the paint with purpose. Aix-Maurienne struggled to contain the hosts' inside-out attack, and by the end of the opening quarter the game already had a distinct shape: Denain dictating, the visitors responding.

The second quarter only widened the gap. Denain's defensive pressure forced turnovers and difficult shots, and their transition game turned those stops into easy points. By halftime the margin had grown to double digits, and Aix-Maurienne faced an uphill battle.

Key Moments

The decisive phase came shortly before halftime, when Denain strung together consecutive stops and converted them into points at the other end, stretching the lead into a range that forced Aix-Maurienne to abandon their preferred half-court rhythm. Any hope of a visiting comeback was snuffed out early in the third, when Denain opened the second half with a quick burst to push the advantage toward 20 points.

Standout Performers

Denain's scoring was spread across the roster, a hallmark of a team playing with confidence and cohesion. Their guards controlled tempo, their wings shot efficiently from the perimeter, and their big men dominated the boards at both ends. Defensively, the hosts were active in passing lanes and disciplined in rotations, making life difficult for Aix-Maurienne's primary scorers.

Aix-Maurienne found occasional success with individual shot-making, but a lack of consistent offensive flow and costly turnovers prevented them from ever mounting a serious challenge.

Season Impact

This is exactly the kind of statement win that can shape a Pro B season. For Denain Voltaire, the result boosts confidence, improves their standings position and reinforces their credentials as a team capable of competing with anyone in the league. For Aix-Maurienne, it is a night to review and reset — the defensive issues exposed here will need addressing quickly in a division where momentum can swing fast.
