Denain Voltaire claimed a commanding road victory in the Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro B, beating Chalons-Reims 80-55. The 25-point margin was built on a dominant defensive performance that restricted the hosts to one of their lowest totals of the season.

Match Overview

Denain set the tone immediately, applying full-court pressure and forcing Chalons-Reims into rushed decisions. The home side struggled to find any rhythm in the half court, and as the first quarter wore on, the visitors began converting their defensive work into points at the other end. By half-time the contest had already taken on a clear shape.

The third quarter removed any remaining doubt. Denain opened the period with a sustained run, pushing the lead well past 20 points, and from there the game was managed professionally, with rotations kept fresh and the tempo controlled.

Key Moments

• A lopsided second-quarter stretch, driven by defensive rebounds and quick outlet passes, turned a modest lead into a double-digit cushion.
• Back-to-back three-pointers early in the third quarter effectively ended the contest as a competitive fixture.
• Denain's bench maintained the intensity in the fourth quarter, preserving the margin rather than allowing a late rally.

Standout Performers

Denain's defensive effort was collective rather than individual, but their wing players deserve particular credit for disrupting Chalons-Reims' passing lanes and generating steals. Offensively, the visitors shared the ball well and shot efficiently from the perimeter, punishing the hosts whenever they collapsed into the paint. The rebounding battle was also convincingly won, denying Chalons-Reims the second-chance points they needed to stay in touch.

For Chalons-Reims, this was a night to forget. Their shooting percentages were poor across the board, and the offence became increasingly static as the deficit grew. The coaching staff will be looking hard at ball movement and pace of play ahead of the next fixture.

Tactical Story

Denain's approach was simple and effective: pressure the ball handler, deny easy entry passes, and run at every opportunity. Chalons-Reims never solved the pressure, and their half-court sets consistently ended in contested jumpers late in the shot clock. When a team is held to 55 points at home, the defensive blueprint deserves most of the credit.

Pro B Standings Context

In Ligue Nationale de Basket Pro B, where promotion to the top division is the ultimate prize and the table is often tightly bunched, point differential can matter enormously at the end of the season. An away win of this size is therefore worth more than just a single victory — it strengthens Denain's position in the Pro B standings and gives them a valuable head-to-head advantage. Chalons-Reims, meanwhile, will need a swift response to avoid a difficult run of form taking hold.
