• First quarter: Caen 18-20 Poitiers
• Second quarter: Caen 19-17 Poitiers
• Third quarter: Caen 16-22 Poitiers
• Fourth quarter: Caen 21-20 Poitiers

Key moments

After Caen briefly threatened to take control early in the fourth quarter, Poitiers responded with a composed offensive possession and a defensive stop on the other end. The visitors protected their lead at the free-throw line and forced Caen into a series of rushed attempts in the final minute. Caen’s late push cut the deficit, but Poitiers had enough poise to close the game out.

Tactical story

Poitiers’ defensive discipline stood out. The visitors contested shots on the perimeter, limited easy paint touches, and made Caen work deep into the shot clock. Offensively, Poitiers shared the ball well and found ways to score against Caen’s half-court defense without relying on a single option. Caen were most effective when they played with pace and attacked the rim, but those moments were too intermittent to sustain a comeback.

Standout performers

Poitiers’ backcourt dictated the pace and delivered several important baskets in the second half. Their frontcourt also held up on the glass and provided enough interior resistance to keep Caen from dominating the paint. Caen received solid contributions from their perimeter players, but the home side’s shooting cooled at the wrong time. The bench units traded short bursts, yet Poitiers’ reserves gave the visitors a little more stability during the decisive third-quarter run.

Season impact

The road victory strengthens Poitiers’ position in the Pro B standings and underlines their ability to win in difficult environments. For Caen, the loss is a frustrating one because the game remained within reach until the final possessions. The result adds another tight chapter to the head-to-head history between the clubs and gives Poitiers a useful confidence boost for the next stretch of the campaign.
