Key moments

The turning point came midway through the third quarter. With the game tied, Saint-Chamond produced an 11-2 run that silenced the home crowd and forced ASA(K) into a timeout. The run was built on defensive stops and quick transition baskets, and it gave the visitors a lead they would not relinquish.

ASA(K) made one final push in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to six with just over two minutes remaining. But Saint-Chamond answered with a clutch three-pointer and then converted free throws to seal the win.

Tactical story

Saint-Chamond’s defense was the difference. The visitors switched effectively on screens, contested three-point shots, and forced ASA(K) into difficult mid-range attempts. They also won the rebounding battle in the second half, limiting the hosts’ second-chance opportunities.

ASA(K) struggled with ball security, committing several turnovers that led directly to Saint-Chamond points. The hosts also had an off-night from the free-throw line, which made it difficult to keep pace in the closing minutes. Offensively, ASA(K) relied too heavily on individual isolation plays rather than consistent ball movement.

Standout performers

Saint-Chamond received a balanced scoring effort, with contributions from both the starting lineup and the bench. The backcourt controlled the pace and made smart decisions in the fourth quarter. For ASA(K), the interior players battled hard on the boards, but the team’s guards were unable to find enough rhythm against Saint-Chamond’s pressure defense.

Season impact

The win is a valuable road result for Saint-Chamond and a confidence boost early in the Pro B season. Road victories are precious in a league where home teams often dominate, and this performance showed the visitors’ ability to execute under pressure.

For ASA(K), the loss highlights the need for better ball control and more consistent half-court offense. The hosts showed fight but will need to clean up their execution if they are to turn close games into wins.
