Ilirija produced one of the most convincing road performances of the Liga Nova KBM round, dismantling Zlatorog Lasko 93-69 on October 15, 2026. The visitors controlled the game from the opening minutes and never allowed the home side to establish any real rhythm at either end of the floor.

An Early Statement

Ilirija set the tone immediately, opening with a 10-0 run that forced Zlatorog Lasko into an early timeout. The pattern of the game was established quickly: Ilirija's guards pushed the ball in transition at every opportunity, and their half-court offense relied on crisp ball movement that repeatedly found the open man against a passive Laško defense.

The Decisive Stretch

If there was a single moment that broke the contest, it was the closing minutes of the second quarter. Ilirija closed the half with a 16-4 surge, converting three consecutive turnovers into points and stretching a ten-point lead into a commanding advantage at the break. The damage was compounded in the third quarter, when the visitors hit four three-pointers in the space of six possessions.

• First quarter: Ilirija 10-0 opening run sets the tone
• Second quarter: 16-4 close to the half puts the game out of reach
• Third quarter: Four triples in six possessions end the contest

Tactical Breakdown

Ilirija's defensive game plan was straightforward and ruthlessly effective. They packed the paint, dared Zlatorog to shoot from the perimeter, and rotated quickly enough to contest most of the resulting attempts. On the other end, their spacing was excellent — four shooters around a single screener created driving lanes that the Laško defense could not close.

Zlatorog Lasko, by contrast, looked short of ideas in the half court. Their offense stagnated into isolation possessions, and when shots stopped falling, the deficit grew rapidly. The home team's rebounding effort was also below the standard required in the Slovenian top flight, conceding multiple second-chance baskets.

Standout Performers

Ilirija's backcourt dictated the tempo throughout, combining efficient shooting with low turnover numbers — the statistical signature of a well-coached team. Their forward rotation contributed on the boards and in transition, and the bench maintained the intensity when the starters rested, which is why the margin kept growing rather than shrinking.

For Zlatorog Lasko, there were isolated bright spots. A young guard showed genuine promise attacking off the dribble, and one of the big men battled hard on the glass. But the team as a whole lacked the defensive communication needed to slow a side as sharp as Ilirija.

Liga Nova KBM Impact

A 24-point road win is worth more than two points in the standings — it is a confidence marker. Ilirija will take real belief from a performance this complete, particularly with tougher fixtures on the horizon. Zlatorog Lasko, meanwhile, will use the loss as a teaching moment: the defensive principles that worked in previous rounds were simply not executed at the required level here.

The Slovenian league remains a competition where home form is vital, and Laško will need to protect their own floor in the coming weeks to stay in touch with the playoff places.
