Maribor Women claimed a composed road victory in the Liga Nova KBM Women, beating Domel Skofja Loka Women 62-43. In a game defined by defensive pressure and low shooting percentages, Maribor's ability to generate quality looks in the half-court proved decisive.

Match Overview

The opening quarter set the tone for a scrappy contest. Both teams defended with intensity, contesting every shot and clogging the paint, and points were hard to come by. Maribor edged ahead early and never surrendered the advantage, gradually stretching their lead as Skofja Loka's offense labored.

By halftime the visitors held a workable cushion, and the third quarter turned it into a commanding one. Skofja Loka managed only 43 points across the full game — a reflection of Maribor's discipline at the defensive end and the hosts' difficulties converting open looks.

Key Moments

• First-quarter defensive stand: Maribor held Skofja Loka to a single-digit opening period, establishing control early.
• Second-quarter run: A patient stretch of offense, built on offensive rebounds and free throws, pushed the lead into double figures before halftime.
• Third-quarter clampdown: Maribor's best defensive spell of the night effectively ended the contest, with the hosts going several minutes without a field goal.

Tactical Story

Maribor's game plan was built around defensive pressure on the perimeter and strong help rotations inside. They forced Skofja Loka into contested mid-range attempts and limited clean three-point looks, while controlling the defensive glass to prevent second-chance points. Offensively, Maribor were patient, working the ball inside-out and drawing fouls when the hosts over-rotated.

Skofja Loka's struggles came largely on the offensive end, where ball movement was slow and shot selection suffered. Their defensive effort kept them within reach for a while, but the scoring drought in the third quarter removed any chance of a comeback.

Standout Performers

Maribor's guards set the defensive tone, hounding ball handlers and turning pressure into transition opportunities. Their interior players controlled the boards at both ends, providing the second-chance points that gradually stretched the margin. Skofja Loka's brightest contributions came from their forwards, who battled on the glass and scored some hard-earned baskets in traffic.

Season Impact

The result strengthens Maribor's position in the Liga Nova KBM Women standings and adds another road win to a résumé built on defensive solidity. Holding an opponent to 43 points is a mark of real control. For Domel Skofja Loka, the focus will be on offensive execution and finding more consistent scoring support around their leading players as the season progresses.
