Valencia Women delivered one of the most emphatic performances of the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto round, overwhelming Universitario De Ferrol Women 87-50 on 18 October 2026. The home side controlled the game from the opening minutes and never allowed the visitors to settle, turning a promising start into a commanding victory that underlined Valencia’s quality at both ends of the floor.

Match overview

Valencia set the tone with a dominant first quarter, building a 24-12 lead behind aggressive defense and efficient early offense. The second period followed a similar pattern, with the hosts adding a 20-14 advantage to take a 44-26 cushion into halftime. Any hope of a Ferrol comeback was effectively extinguished in the third quarter, when Valencia outscored the visitors 23-11 and pushed the margin beyond 30 points. The final period was played at a more measured pace, but Valencia still closed strongly to complete an 87-50 win.

The scoring balance reflected Valencia’s depth. The hosts found contributions across the rotation, with guards pushing the tempo and the interior players controlling the paint. Ferrol, by contrast, struggled to find rhythm against a compact and switched-on defense, and the visitors were forced into difficult shots for long stretches.

Key moments

• Valencia opened with a 10-2 run that immediately put Ferrol on the back foot.
• A 13-0 burst spanning the end of the first quarter and the start of the second broke the game open.
• The third-quarter surge, built on defensive stops and quick transition baskets, took the lead past 30 points.
• Valencia’s bench maintained the intensity in the fourth quarter, preserving the double-digit cushion and finishing the job comfortably.

Tactical story

Valencia’s defensive pressure was the foundation of the win. The hosts disrupted Ferrol’s ball movement, forced turnovers, and turned those mistakes into easy points at the other end. Offensively, Valencia played with excellent spacing, attacking closeouts and moving the ball until an open shooter or an interior mismatch appeared. The rebounding battle also favored the home side, limiting Ferrol’s second-chance opportunities and allowing Valencia to dictate the tempo.

Ferrol’s best spells came when it slowed the game down and attacked through the half-court, but those moments were too brief. The visitors struggled with Valencia’s physicality and were unable to string together enough stops to mount a serious challenge.

Standout performers

Valencia’s backcourt set the defensive tone and repeatedly converted steals into fast-break points. The frontcourt controlled the glass and protected the rim, while the bench provided energy and scoring in the second half. For Ferrol, the effort remained visible until the final buzzer, but the team lacked the offensive firepower to stay with the hosts once Valencia found its rhythm.

Season impact

The result is a significant statement for Valencia in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto standings. A 37-point victory improves the team’s point differential and reinforces its credentials as a side capable of competing at the top end of the table. For Universitario De Ferrol Women, the focus will turn to regrouping quickly, tightening the defense, and finding more consistent scoring ahead of the next fixture.
