Universitario De Ferrol Women claimed a convincing 84-72 home victory over CAB Estepona Women in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto on 12 October 2026, combining sharp perimeter shooting with a dominant rebounding display to pull clear in the second half.

Match Overview

Ferrol entered the fixture looking to assert themselves on their own court, and they did so with a performance of growing authority. Estepona kept the contest close for much of the first half before the hosts' superior depth and execution told after the interval.

The twelve-point final margin was built on a decisive third quarter, during which Ferrol turned a narrow lead into a comfortable cushion.

How the Game Unfolded

The opening period was even, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to establish a rhythm. Estepona's guards were lively, attacking off the dribble and finding space in the mid-range. Ferrol replied with patient ball movement and a willingness to work the ball inside.

After halftime, the game changed. Ferrol raised their defensive intensity, closed out on shooters faster and forced Estepona into difficult late-clock attempts. At the other end, a run of three-pointers opened the gap, and the visitors were unable to respond with a sustained counter-run.

Key Moments

• Third-quarter burst: A quick scoring run after the break gave Ferrol the separation they needed.
• Rebounding dominance: Extra possessions repeatedly extended Ferrol's best spells.
• Late-game control: Calm execution in the fourth quarter prevented any Estepona comeback.

Tactical Story

Ferrol's coaching staff made effective adjustments at halftime, switching coverages and asking their guards to pressure the ball higher up the floor. This disrupted Estepona's preferred pick-and-roll actions and pushed them into isolation basketball. On offence, Ferrol prioritised attacking the paint, drawing help defenders and kicking out for open shots.

Estepona's own game plan had merit — they competed well on the glass in the first half and moved the ball smartly — but their shooting cooled and their defensive rotations slowed as the game wore on.

Standout Performances

Ferrol's scoring was balanced, with contributions from the perimeter and the interior, and their bench provided a meaningful lift during the decisive third-quarter run. Estepona's most impressive displays came from their backcourt, who competed throughout despite the growing deficit.

Standings Impact

An 84-72 home win is exactly the kind of result that builds momentum in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto. Ferrol add a solid victory to their record and strengthen their standing heading into a demanding stretch of fixtures.

CAB Estepona Women leave with a twelve-point defeat but with clear evidence of the areas — defensive consistency and rebounding — that will decide their season.
