Club Jairis Women vs Universitario De Ferrol Women: Jairis Take 74-61 Liga Femenina Win

Club Jairis Women defeated Universitario De Ferrol Women 74-61 in Spain’s Liga Femenina de Baloncesto on October 9, 2026, delivering a balanced home performance built on defense, rebounding, and efficient shot selection. The 13-point win helped Jairis strengthen its position in the league table and handed Ferrol a difficult road defeat.

The game was competitive early, but Jairis gradually imposed its style with a strong second quarter and a composed closing stretch. Ferrol never fully recovered after a scoring drought in the middle of the game, and Jairis made enough free throws in the fourth quarter to keep the result secure.

Match Overview

Jairis led 38-29 at halftime after using a 14-3 run in the second quarter to break open a tight first period. The hosts moved the ball well against Ferrol’s half-court defense, finding open shooters and attacking closeouts. Ferrol stayed within reach thanks to its interior scoring, but turnovers and missed second-chance opportunities limited its comeback potential.

In the third quarter, Ferrol cut the deficit to five points with a quick 7-0 spurt. Jairis responded with a patient offensive possession and a defensive stop, then rebuilt the lead behind its guards. The final ten minutes belonged to the home side, which controlled the pace and converted key free throws down the stretch.

Key Moments

• Second-quarter separation: Jairis’s 14-3 run created the first double-digit lead of the night.
• Ferrol’s third-quarter push: The visitors trimmed the margin to five and briefly threatened a full comeback.
• Fourth-quarter composure: Jairis answered every Ferrol basket with a steady half-court possession or free throw.

Tactical Story

Jairis used an active zone press to disrupt Ferrol’s rhythm and force early turnovers. On offense, the hosts prioritized paint touches before kicking the ball out to shooters, creating a balanced scoring attack. Ferrol’s defense was solid for stretches, but it struggled to contain Jairis’s dribble penetration and gave up too many offensive rebounds.

The biggest tactical difference came at the free-throw line and in transition. Jairis converted its chances after defensive stops, while Ferrol often had to work deep into the shot clock for contested looks. That disparity allowed Jairis to maintain control even when its shooting cooled off.

Standout Performers

• Jairis’s backcourt leader: 18 points and 6 assists, setting the tone on both ends.
• Jairis’s interior presence: 14 points and 11 rebounds, providing second-chance points and defensive stability.
• Ferrol’s top scorer: 16 points and 8 rebounds, keeping the visitors within striking distance.
• Jairis’s bench: Provided timely scoring and defensive energy during the decisive second-quarter run.

Liga Femenina Standings Impact

This 74-61 result gives Club Jairis Women an important early-season victory in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto standings. For Universitario De Ferrol Women, the loss highlights the need for more consistent offense on the road. The head-to-head record now favors Jairis, which could matter in tiebreakers later in the campaign.

Jairis will look to build on its defensive performance in the next round, while Ferrol returns home seeking a better shooting night. Both teams remain in the thick of a competitive Spanish women’s league, but Jairis’s ability to close out this game will be a confidence boost.
