CAB Estepona Women delivered a statement performance in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto on October 18, 2026, beating Perfumerías Avenida Women 81-67 at home. The 14-point victory was built on disciplined defense, balanced scoring and a strong third quarter that turned a competitive game into a clear win over one of the league’s traditionally powerful sides.

Match Overview

Estepona started with intensity, taking the opening quarter 20-15 behind quick ball movement and aggressive drives to the basket. Perfumerías Avenida stayed within touch in the second period, but the hosts maintained their edge and went into halftime with a 42-33 lead.

The decisive stretch came in the third quarter. Estepona held Avenida to 16 points while adding 19 of their own, pushing the advantage to 61-49. From there, the home side managed the game intelligently, never allowing the visitors to string together enough stops to threaten a comeback. Avenida won the final quarter by a narrow 20-18 margin, but the result was already settled.

Key Moments

• Estepona’s first-quarter pressure forced Avenida into early turnovers and set the tone for a high-energy home performance.
• A 10-2 run midway through the third quarter gave Estepona their largest lead of the night and broke Avenida’s defensive resistance.
• Avenida briefly threatened early in the fourth, but Estepona answered with back-to-back three-pointers to restore control.
• Strong free-throw shooting in the final five minutes closed the door on any late comeback attempt.

Tactical Story

Estepona’s defensive game plan was clear: crowd the paint, contest every perimeter look and force Perfumerías Avenida to play through contested mid-range shots. The visitors never found a comfortable offensive rhythm, and their normally reliable outside shooting deserted them at key moments.

On offense, Estepona shared the ball exceptionally well. The hosts created open looks through drive-and-kick actions and consistently attacked the offensive glass. Their bench also provided valuable minutes, maintaining the defensive intensity when the starters rested. Avenida, by contrast, relied too heavily on individual plays and struggled to match Estepona’s energy over four quarters.

Standout Players

Estepona’s backcourt controlled the game with poise, and their leading scorer finished with 20 points while adding several assists. The frontcourt delivered a double-double, dominating the boards and protecting the rim. For Perfumerías Avenida, the standout performer fought hard on the interior, but the team’s overall shooting performance left too much work for one or two players.

Season Impact

This is the kind of win that can shape a season. CAB Estepona Women gain confidence and credibility in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto standings, while Perfumerías Avenida Women will need to regroup quickly. The result shows that Estepona can compete with the league’s elite when their defense travels and their perimeter shots fall. For Avenida, the focus will be on improving offensive execution and avoiding similar lapses in future road games.
