UCAM Murcia CB held off a determined Basquet Coruna side to secure an 88-81 home victory in Liga ACB play on 25 October 2026, relying on a balanced scoring effort and a composed fourth quarter at the Palacio de Deportes de Murcia.

The game was tight for long stretches, with Coruna matching Murcia’s intensity and keeping the deficit manageable. Murcia’s ability to find answers late in the shot clock and their stronger finish in the final minutes proved decisive in an otherwise evenly contested matchup.

Match overview

Murcia took the opening quarter 24-20, but Coruna responded well in the second to trim the halftime lead to 43-42. The hosts regained some control with a 23-19 third quarter, moving ahead 66-61, before closing the game with a 22-20 final period to seal the 88-81 result.

The win gives UCAM Murcia CB a hard-earned home success and valuable momentum in the Liga ACB standings. Basquet Coruna leave with a competitive performance but will regret a few empty possessions in the closing minutes.

Key moments

Coruna kept the pressure on into the fourth quarter, but Murcia’s response came through timely three-point shooting and aggressive drives to the basket. A short scoring run midway through the final period created just enough breathing room, and the hosts protected the lead at the free-throw line.

• Murcia’s late third-quarter push gave them a five-point edge heading into the fourth.
• Coruna cut the lead to a single possession before Murcia answered with key baskets.
• Free-throw discipline helped Murcia close out the win.

Tactical story

Murcia’s offense flowed best when the ball moved through the high post and created open catch-and-shoot opportunities. The hosts also benefited from their work on the offensive glass, which produced extra possessions at important moments. Defensively, Murcia adjusted to Coruna’s pick-and-roll attack by switching more aggressively in the second half.

Coruna’s effort was impressive, particularly in transition, where they scored several easy baskets. However, their half-court offense became predictable late in the game, and Murcia’s pressure forced them into difficult shots.

Standout performers

Murcia’s guard play was central to the win, with steady ball-handling and timely shot-making in the fourth quarter. The frontcourt contributed crucial rebounds and defensive stops. Coruna’s best moments came from their wing scoring and transition pressure, but they lacked the final punch to complete the comeback.

Table and season impact

The result is an important one for UCAM Murcia CB as they look to build consistency in the Liga ACB table. For Basquet Coruna, the narrow loss offers encouragement but also underlines the margin between competing for long stretches and closing out games on the road.
