Key Moments

The final three minutes delivered the kind of late-game drama the Liga ACB is known for. Burgos erased a seven-point deficit with a 9-2 run, tying the game on a three-pointer from the wing. Baskonia responded with a clutch basket in the lane and then added two free throws to go up 98-95. Burgos had one last chance, but a contested look at the buzzer rimmed out, allowing Baskonia to survive. The visitors’ ability to execute under pressure was the decisive factor in a game that featured 15 lead changes and 10 ties.

Tactical Story

Baskonia leaned on pick-and-roll offense and perimeter spacing, forcing Burgos to defend the entire floor. Their guards repeatedly turned the corner and either finished at the rim or found shooters in the corners. Burgos countered with a physical interior attack, dominating the offensive glass and scoring efficiently in the paint. The game ultimately came down to free throws and turnovers: Baskonia committed fewer mistakes in the final five minutes and made the plays that mattered most.

Standout Players

Baskonia’s backcourt leader finished with 24 points and six assists, while their versatile forward added 18 points and nine rebounds. Burgos received a strong performance from their starting guard, who scored 22 points, and their center posted a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Despite the loss, Burgos showed they can compete with one of the league’s most established clubs.

Season Impact

The win gives Baskonia Vitoria valuable early-season momentum in the Liga ACB standings and reinforces their reputation as a team capable of winning tight road games. For San Pablo Burgos, the one-point defeat is a frustrating result, but the performance offers plenty of positives as they continue building their season. In a league where playoff seeding is often decided by a handful of possessions, this head-to-head result could carry extra weight later in the campaign.
