Real Madrid produced a statement performance in the Liga Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto, dismantling Bizkaia Bilbao Basket 119-84 at home on October 18, 2026. The 35-point margin reflected Madrid’s control on both ends of the floor, with the hosts turning early defensive pressure into a steady stream of transition points and open perimeter looks. By the final buzzer, the contest had become a clear demonstration of Madrid’s depth and offensive firepower.

Match overview

Madrid set the tone from the opening minutes, pushing the pace and attacking the paint before kicking out to shooters. The hosts built a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never allowed Bilbao to settle into a comfortable half-court rhythm. A strong close to the second period sent Madrid into halftime with a commanding advantage, and a dominant third-quarter stretch put the result beyond doubt.

• Second quarter: Real Madrid 30-22 Bizkaia Bilbao Basket
• Third quarter: Real Madrid 29-21 Bizkaia Bilbao Basket
• Fourth quarter: Real Madrid 29-21 Bizkaia Bilbao Basket

Key moments

The decisive spell arrived late in the first half. Madrid forced a series of rushed Bilbao possessions, converted steals into layups, and added back-to-back three-pointers to break the game open. A 12-2 run shifted the momentum firmly toward the hosts, and Bilbao’s timeout did little to slow the surge. Early in the third quarter, Madrid delivered another burst — this time a 14-4 stretch — that pushed the lead past 30 and effectively ended the competitive phase of the match.

Tactical story

Madrid’s defensive activity was the foundation of the win. The hosts pressured the ballhandler, switched aggressively on the perimeter, and contested driving lanes, forcing Bilbao into difficult mid-range attempts and late-clock decisions. Offensively, Madrid played with excellent spacing. The ball moved quickly from side to side, and the inside-out game created a steady balance between paint touches and open three-point shots. Madrid’s bench also made a significant impact, maintaining the tempo and extending the lead even when the starters rested.

Bilbao found some success in the paint but struggled to string together stops. The visitors were hurt by turnovers and second-chance points, and their half-court offense became too predictable as the deficit grew. Madrid’s rebounding edge and transition efficiency turned the game into a one-sided affair.

Standout performers

Madrid’s leading scorer finished with 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists, setting the tone with aggressive drives and confident shooting. The home side’s bench forward added 18 points and provided energy on the offensive glass, while the starting point guard controlled the pace and finished with a game-high assist total. For Bilbao, the top scorer managed 17 points, but the visitors lacked the balanced production needed to keep pace.

Season impact

The victory strengthens Real Madrid’s position near the top of the Liga ACB standings and sends a clear message about their scoring depth. For Bilbao, the defeat highlights the need for more consistent defense and better ball security ahead of a demanding stretch. The head-to-head result also adds another dominant home chapter to Madrid’s season, while Bilbao will look to regroup quickly and protect their home court in the next round.
