Lucentum Alicante produced one of their most complete road performances of the season on Sunday, defeating Hestia Menorca 81-64 at the Pavelló Menorca in a Spain Primera FEB clash that was effectively decided before the final period. The visitors controlled the tempo from the opening minutes, built a double-digit cushion by half-time and never allowed the home side to mount a serious comeback in front of a passionate island crowd.

Match Overview

The final score of 64-81 tells the story of a game shaped by defensive pressure and efficient shot selection. Hestia Menorca hung around early, trading baskets in a lively opening quarter, but Lucentum's ball movement and transition attack gradually stretched the game open. By the interval the Alicante club had established a lead it would protect comfortably, and a composed closing quarter sealed the result.

• Final score: Hestia Menorca 64, Lucentum Alicante 81
• Competition: Spain Primera FEB
• Venue: Pavelló Menorca, Mahón
• Quarter scores: 18-22, 14-23, 16-20, 16-16

Key Moments

The decisive stretch arrived midway through the second quarter. With the game still within a single possession, Lucentum rattled off a run built on back-to-back three-pointers and a pair of fast-break layups after Menorca turnovers. That sequence turned a tight contest into a 14-point halftime lead and forced the home bench into an early timeout.

Menorca came out with more energy after the break and briefly trimmed the deficit behind aggressive drives and second-chance points, but each mini-surge was answered immediately. A momentum-swinging block followed by a corner three restored the visitors' control late in the third, and the fourth quarter became a matter of game management rather than genuine contest.

Tactical Story

Lucentum's game plan revolved around switching aggressively on the perimeter and daring Menorca to beat them inside. The approach worked: the hosts were held to 64 points, well below the output they need to stay in games, and their half-court offense became increasingly stagnant as the shot clock wore down. The Alicante side also punished the defensive glass, converting long rebounds into early offense before Menorca's defense could set.

For Hestia Menorca, the issues were familiar ones — inconsistent outside shooting and a tendency to settle for contested mid-range attempts. When the ball moved side to side, they looked dangerous, but those possessions were too infrequent across 40 minutes.

Standout Players

Lucentum's backcourt dictated proceedings, with their primary guard combining scoring and playmaking while committing few turnovers. The interior rotation protected the rim effectively, contesting shots without fouling and finishing around the basket with efficiency. For Menorca, the brightest contributions came from their forwards, who fought on the boards and provided most of the team's second-half scoring, though the support from the perimeter was limited.

Season Impact

This result is a significant one in the Primera FEB standings. Road victories of this margin strengthen Lucentum Alicante's position among the promotion-chasing group and add valuable head-to-head weight should tiebreakers come into play later in the campaign. For Hestia Menorca, the defeat is a reminder of how narrow the margins are in Spain's fiercely competitive second division, where home form is often the difference between playoff contention and mid-table drift. Menorca will look to reset quickly on home hardwood, while Lucentum carry clear momentum into their next fixture.
