Palmer Basket went on the road and came away with a hard-earned 94-90 victory over Gipuzkoa Basket in a Spain Primera FEB clash that went down to the final possessions. In a game where neither side ever managed to build a truly comfortable cushion, the visitors found the extra gear in the closing minutes to secure a valuable away result and leave the home crowd frustrated after a night of near-constant lead changes.

Match Overview

The encounter at Gipuzkoa's home floor was everything a Primera FEB fixture promises: high tempo, aggressive defense and scoring runs traded back and forth. Gipuzkoa Basket opened with intent, attacking the rim early and using their home support to dictate the pace, but Palmer Basket answered with disciplined half-court execution and timely three-point shooting.

By the end of the first quarter the visitors held a slim 24-22 edge, setting the tone for a game that would be decided by small margins rather than a single decisive surge.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• First quarter: Gipuzkoa 22 – Palmer 24
• Second quarter: Gipuzkoa 25 – Palmer 21
• Third quarter: Gipuzkoa 20 – Palmer 26
• Fourth quarter: Gipuzkoa 23 – Palmer 23
• Final score: Gipuzkoa Basket 90 – Palmer Basket 94

The second quarter belonged to the hosts, who pushed the ball in transition and briefly seized momentum heading into the locker room. But the third period proved decisive: Palmer's defensive adjustments and a burst of scoring from the perimeter turned a narrow deficit into a lead they would never fully surrender.

Key Moments

Trailing by a small margin midway through the third, Palmer strung together the most important run of the night, mixing stops with quick offense to flip the scoreboard. Gipuzkoa responded in the fourth with a determined push, cutting the gap to a single possession on multiple occasions, but each time the visitors had an answer — a contested jumper, a second-chance basket or a pair of free throws under pressure.

With the clock winding down, Gipuzkoa were forced into hurried attempts, and Palmer's composure at the free-throw line in the final minute effectively sealed the result.

Tactical Story

Both coaches leaned on aggressive pick-and-roll coverage, but Palmer's ability to punish switches with dribble penetration gave them the edge. Gipuzkoa's interior defense held up for long stretches, yet the hosts struggled to control the defensive glass in the second half, conceding extra possessions at the worst possible moments. Offensively, Gipuzkoa shot the ball well enough to win, but a handful of empty trips in the third quarter proved costly in a four-point game.

Season Impact

For Palmer Basket, this is the kind of road win that builds confidence and boosts positioning in the Primera FEB standings, where every away result carries extra weight in the race for playoff seeding. For Gipuzkoa Basket, the defeat is a reminder of how punishing the league can be — a strong offensive night undone by a single sluggish stretch. Both teams will look to carry lessons from this head-to-head into their next fixtures as the Spanish second division continues to deliver tight, competitive basketball.
