Dreamland Gran Canaria delivered a statement road performance in Spain Primera FEB on Sunday, dismantling Cordoba 99-65 with a relentless defensive effort and a deep, balanced scoring attack. The 34-point margin was built on a dominant first half and a third quarter that removed any doubt about the final result.

Match overview

Gran Canaria came out with intensity from the opening tip, pressing Cordoba into early turnovers and pushing the pace in transition. The visitors led 28-14 after the first quarter and never allowed Cordoba to settle into a comfortable half-court rhythm. By halftime, the advantage had grown to 52-32, and a 25-17 third quarter extended the lead further.

Cordoba found brief offensive rhythm in the second period through perimeter shooting, but Gran Canaria answered every mini-run with a run of their own. The final quarter was largely academic, with Gran Canaria’s bench maintaining the defensive standard and closing out a convincing road win.

Key moments

• Gran Canaria opened the game with a 15-2 run, setting the defensive tone and forcing Cordoba into an early timeout.
• A 12-0 surge late in the second quarter pushed the lead past 20 points and effectively broke Cordoba’s resistance.
• The third-quarter stretch midway through the period, when Gran Canaria hit three consecutive three-pointers, ended any realistic comeback hopes.
• Cordoba’s best spell came early in the fourth quarter, but a 9-0 Gran Canaria response restored complete control.

Tactical story

Gran Canaria’s defense was the foundation of the win. The visitors pressured the ball handler, denied easy entry passes and rotated quickly to close out Cordoba’s shooters. Cordoba finished with 17 turnovers, many of which turned into transition points for Gran Canaria. On offense, Gran Canaria shared the ball beautifully, recording 26 assists and attacking the paint whenever Cordoba overcommitted on the perimeter.

Cordoba’s half-court offense became predictable as the game wore on. The home side relied heavily on contested jump shots and struggled to generate second-chance points against Gran Canaria’s physical interior defense. When Cordoba did break the pressure, Gran Canaria’s length at the rim forced difficult finishes.

Standout players

Alejandro Martin paced Gran Canaria with 21 points and 6 assists, repeatedly finding seams in Cordoba’s defense. Sergio Betancor added 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Pablo Reyes contributed 14 points off the bench. For Cordoba, Javier Ruiz scored 17 points and Daniel Moreno added 13, but the home side lacked the collective firepower to stay with Gran Canaria once the visitors found their rhythm.

Season impact

The win gives Dreamland Gran Canaria a valuable road result and a significant boost to their point differential in Spain Primera FEB. It also underlines their depth and defensive ceiling as the season progresses. Cordoba, meanwhile, will need to address their turnover issues and half-court execution before their next outing. The result serves as a reminder that Gran Canaria can punish teams on both ends when their pressure defense is clicking.
