Dreamland Gran Canaria pulled off an impressive 79-68 road win against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in Spain Primera FEB action on October 4, 2026. The victory at the Fernando Martin Sports Pavilion boosts Gran Canaria's promotion ambitions and hands Fuenlabrada a disappointing home defeat.

Match Overview

Fuenlabrada, playing in front of their home fans, started the game with high energy, but Gran Canaria's disciplined defense and efficient offense proved too much to handle. The visitors controlled the pace from the second quarter onward, never allowing Fuenlabrada to find a consistent rhythm. The win is a statement for Gran Canaria, who are pushing for a return to the top tier of Spanish basketball.

First Half: Gran Canaria Takes Control

The first quarter was evenly matched, with both teams trading baskets. Fuenlabrada led 20-18 after ten minutes, thanks to strong play from their frontcourt. However, Gran Canaria responded with a dominant second quarter, outscoring the hosts 24-14. A 10-0 run midway through the period, capped by a three-pointer from their shooting guard, gave the visitors a 42-34 halftime lead.

Key Moments and Second-Half Execution

Fuenlabrada came out of the locker room with renewed urgency, cutting the deficit to 48-45 early in the third quarter. But Gran Canaria's bench provided a timely boost, and a series of defensive stops allowed them to push the lead back to double digits. The fourth quarter was a masterclass in game management, as Gran Canaria slowed the tempo and knocked down clutch free throws to seal the win.

Tactical Story

Gran Canaria's defense was the story of the game, holding Fuenlabrada to just 38% shooting from the field. They forced 16 turnovers and converted them into 22 points. On offense, Gran Canaria moved the ball beautifully, dishing out 21 assists on 29 made baskets. Fuenlabrada struggled from beyond the arc, hitting only 6 of 25 three-point attempts, while Gran Canaria shot a respectable 10-of-24 from deep.

Standout Players

• Nicolas Brussino (Gran Canaria): Led the way with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
• John Shurna (Gran Canaria): Added 15 points and 8 rebounds, hitting three key three-pointers.
• Khalifa Diop (Gran Canaria): Dominated the paint with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
• Dusan Ristic (Fuenlabrada): Scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in a losing cause.

Season Impact

This win moves Dreamland Gran Canaria up the Primera FEB standings and strengthens their case for promotion. For Baloncesto Fuenlabrada, the loss is a setback, but there is plenty of basketball left to play. The team will need to address their shooting woes and turnovers if they hope to climb the table.
