Paisas edged Toros del Valle 92-90 in a tense Liga de Baloncesto battle on October 12, 2026, surviving a late comeback attempt to secure a two-point home victory. The game featured 12 lead changes and was decided in the final possession, with Paisas making just enough plays on both ends to hold on.

Match Overview

Paisas started quickly, building a 24-22 lead after the first quarter behind aggressive drives and a handful of second-chance points. Toros del Valle answered in the second, using a 10-2 run to briefly take the lead before Paisas settled in for a 44-45 halftime deficit. The third quarter belonged to the home side, as Paisas outscored Toros 25-21 to take a 69-66 advantage into the final period.

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair. Toros del Valle tied the game at 88-88 with under two minutes remaining, but Paisas responded with a clutch jumper and two free throws. A last-second three-point attempt by Toros rimmed out, allowing Paisas to escape with the 92-90 win.

Key Moments

The defining sequence came in the final 90 seconds. After Toros del Valle tied the score, Paisas’ point guard penetrated the lane and kicked out for a mid-range jumper that put the home team ahead 90-88. On the next possession, Paisas forced a contested fadeaway that missed, then secured the rebound and drew a foul. Two made free throws made it 92-88. Toros hit a quick basket to cut it to two, but their final heave from beyond the arc was off target.

Another important stretch occurred early in the third quarter, when Paisas opened with a 9-2 run to erase their halftime deficit. That burst gave them control of the tempo and forced Toros to play from behind for most of the second half.

Tactical Story

Paisas won this game with balance. They attacked the paint, moved the ball side to side, and got contributions from their bench. Defensively, they switched between man-to-man and a compact zone, which disrupted Toros’ pick-and-roll rhythm. Toros del Valle were at their best when they pushed the pace and attacked early in the shot clock, but Paisas did a better job of slowing the game down in the fourth quarter.

Rebounding was another key factor. Paisas grabbed several critical offensive boards in the second half, extending possessions and limiting Toros’ transition chances. Toros del Valle shot well from the perimeter but struggled to get stops when it mattered most.

Standout Players

• Paisas’ starting point guard: 22 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds, including the go-ahead jumper.
• Paisas’ power forward: 18 points and 11 rebounds, controlling the interior.
• Toros del Valle’s shooting guard: 26 points on 5-of-9 three-point shooting.
• Toros del Valle’s center: 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

What It Means

The win moves Paisas into a stronger position in the Liga de Baloncesto standings and gives them a valuable head-to-head tiebreaker over Toros del Valle. For Toros, the loss is a frustrating one because they had chances late but could not convert. The result also underlines how competitive the league has become, with games routinely coming down to the final possession.
