Aquila Basket Trento secured a hard-fought 74-66 victory over Snaidero Cucine Udine on October 11, 2026, in Lega Basket Serie A. The win keeps Trento in the upper echelon of the Italian top flight, while Udine remains in search of consistency.

This was a defensive battle from the opening tip. Both teams struggled to find rhythm, with Udine leading 16-14 after a low-scoring first quarter. Trento's offense began to click in the second quarter, as they went on a 12-4 run to take a 32-26 halftime lead. Udine's star guard kept them close with 10 first-half points, but Trento's balanced attack proved too much.

Second half: Trento pulls away

The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with Udine twice cutting the lead to three points. But Trento answered each time, primarily through their inside-out game. A 7-0 run late in the third gave Trento a 54-44 cushion heading into the final period. Udine made one last push in the fourth, cutting it to 64-58 with 4 minutes left, but Trento's veteran backcourt hit clutch free throws and a dagger three to seal the win.

Key moments and turning point

The turning point came with 5:30 left in the third quarter. Udine had just scored to make it 42-39, and the home crowd was energized. But Trento's point guard hit a step-back three, then stole the ensuing inbounds pass and found a cutting teammate for a layup. That five-point swing in 10 seconds pushed the lead to eight, and Udine never got closer than five the rest of the way.

Standout performers

Trento were led by shooting guard Andrea Conti, who scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Power forward Davide Pascolo added 14 points and 10 rebounds, while point guard Luca Vitali controlled the tempo with 11 points and 7 assists. Reserve forward Matteo Spagnolo chipped in 10 points.

For Udine, guard Michele Antonutti had a game-high 21 points, but he received little help. Center Riccardo Cervi added 12 points and 9 rebounds, but the team shot just 40% from the field and 30% from three. Udine's bench was outscored 24-12.

Tactical breakdown

Trento's defense was the story of the game. They held Udine to 66 points on 40% shooting, forcing 15 turnovers. Trento switched on all screens and contested every shot, making life difficult for Udine's guards. Offensively, Trento exploited mismatches inside, scoring 38 points in the paint. Their ball movement was patient, resulting in 20 assists on 28 made baskets. Udine, meanwhile, settled for too many contested jumpers and failed to get to the free-throw line consistently.

Serie A standings and season impact

With this win, Aquila Basket Trento improves to 4-1 in Serie A, keeping pace with the league's top teams. Udine falls to 2-3 and faces an uphill battle to climb the standings. Trento's victory is a testament to their depth and defensive identity, traits that have made them a consistent playoff team. For Udine, the loss highlights the need for more offensive firepower and better shot selection. The Serie A season is long, but Trento has already established themselves as a contender.
