Pallacanestro Varese defeated BC Roma SPQR 110-103 in a fast-paced Lega Basket Serie A contest on October 25, 2026, delivering one of the most entertaining offensive displays of the early season. The teams combined for 213 points, but it was Varese’s late execution and deeper scoring balance that secured the home win after Roma had repeatedly fought back into contention.

The pace remained high in the second period, and Varese took a 58-54 advantage into halftime behind efficient three-point shooting and strong transition play. Varese appeared ready to pull away in the third quarter, building a 12-point cushion midway through the period. Roma responded with a 10-2 run to close the gap, and the game entered the fourth quarter with Varese ahead 84-79. Key Moments

• Varese’s 9-0 fourth-quarter run broke a 96-96 tie and proved to be the decisive stretch.
• Darius Cole’s step-back three-pointer gave Varese a five-point lead with under two minutes remaining.
• Roma cut the deficit to three late, but a turnover and two missed free throws ended its comeback hopes.

Tactical Story

Varese won this game with pace and spacing. The hosts pushed the ball after makes and misses, created early offense before Roma’s defense could set, and finished with a significant advantage in fast-break points. Their pick-and-roll game also generated open corner threes, and the bench provided a crucial lift with 32 points.

Roma’s offense was effective for long stretches, particularly when Milos Jovanovic attacked downhill and forced help defenders to rotate. However, the visitors’ defense conceded too many second-chance opportunities and struggled to contain Varese’s guards in isolation. Roma matched Varese’s scoring for much of the night but could not get the critical stops in the final three minutes.

Standout Players

Varese guard Darius Cole was the game’s top performer with 31 points, six assists, and four rebounds. Lorenzo Ferrara added 22 points, including four three-pointers, while center Tomas Rinaldi contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds. Varese’s backcourt controlled the tempo and made key plays down the stretch.

For Roma, Milos Jovanovic scored 27 points and dished out seven assists, while Davide Serra added 20 points. Roma’s frontcourt battled on the boards, but the team’s late turnovers and missed free throws proved costly in a game decided by small margins.

Standings and Season Impact

The victory gives Varese a confidence-boosting result and strengthens its position in the Lega Basket Serie A standings. Roma leaves with a frustrating loss but can take encouragement from its offensive output. With both teams capable of scoring in bunches, this head-to-head result could be remembered as an early-season shootout with real implications for the playoff picture.
