Pallacanestro Reggiana 78-83 Aquila Basket Trento ended with the visitors securing a hard-fought road win in Lega Basket Serie A. Trento’s late-game execution and clutch perimeter shooting proved decisive in a contest that remained close for three quarters before the away side pulled away in the final minutes. The result gives Trento an important early-season victory, while Reggiana are left to rue a missed opportunity on home turf at the PalaBigi.

Match Overview

Reggiana started with energy, using their home crowd to build an early 12-6 advantage. Trento responded with a composed first-quarter run, leaning on ball movement and three-point shooting to stay within striking distance. By halftime, the visitors had edged ahead 42-39, but the game was far from settled.

The third quarter turned into a back-and-forth battle. Reggiana attacked the paint effectively and briefly took a 58-56 lead late in the period. However, Trento’s defense tightened in the fourth, forcing several difficult shots and converting turnovers into transition points. A decisive 12-2 run midway through the final quarter gave the visitors a cushion they would not surrender.

Key Moments

• First quarter: Reggiana’s aggressive starts gave them an early lead, but Trento answered with back-to-back triples.
• Third quarter: Reggiana’s interior scoring brought them back into the game, setting up a tense final period.
• Fourth-quarter run: Trento’s 12-2 surge, powered by perimeter shooting and free throws, proved to be the turning point.
• Clutch possessions: Trento converted six of their final eight free-throw attempts to seal the 83-78 win.

Tactical Story

Trento’s coaching staff made a smart adjustment by switching more aggressively on screens, disrupting Reggiana’s pick-and-roll rhythm. The visitors also crashed the defensive glass, limiting second-chance opportunities. Offensively, Trento spaced the floor well and generated open looks from beyond the arc, finishing with a higher three-point percentage than their hosts.

Reggiana found success when they played through their big men, but turnovers in the fourth quarter hurt their momentum. Their half-court offense became predictable down the stretch, and Trento’s help defense rotated quickly enough to contest shots at the rim.

Standout Players

Trento’s point guard controlled the tempo throughout, finishing with a team-high 19 points and several key assists in the fourth quarter. Their shooting guard added 17 points, including three important three-pointers. Reggiana’s center was dominant inside with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while their captain chipped in 14 points, but the supporting cast struggled to find consistent scoring.

Season Impact and Standings Context

The win strengthens Trento’s position in the early Lega Basket Serie A standings and gives them confidence ahead of a demanding stretch of fixtures. Reggiana remain competitive but will need to improve their late-game execution if they are to climb the table. The head-to-head result could prove important if both teams are fighting for playoff positioning later in the season.

Trento’s ability to win on the road against a tough opponent signals their intent to be a factor in the playoff race, while Reggiana will look to bounce back in their next home outing.
