Napoli Basket claimed a thrilling 99-93 victory over Pallacanestro Reggiana in a Lega Basket Serie A showdown on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the PalaBarbuto. The win was Napoli's highest-scoring home performance of the young season and handed Reggiana a frustrating road defeat in a game that was close throughout.

Match Overview

From the opening tip, both teams played at a frantic pace. Napoli Basket attacked early and often, using quick ball movement to create open looks from beyond the arc. Pallacanestro Reggiana, known for their disciplined half-court defense, struggled to contain Napoli's transition game but stayed within striking distance thanks to timely three-point shooting. The first half ended with Napoli ahead 51-47, setting up a tense second half.

The third quarter proved decisive. Napoli opened with a 12-2 run, capped by a fast-break dunk that forced Reggiana to call timeout. The visitors responded with a 10-0 run of their own, but Napoli's bench provided a spark with back-to-back three-pointers. Entering the fourth, Napoli led 76-70.

In the final period, Reggiana cut the deficit to two points multiple times, but Napoli's composure at the free-throw line — they hit 11 of 12 in the fourth quarter — proved the difference. The final score of 99-93 reflected a game that was much closer than the margin suggests.

Key Moments

• First Quarter: Napoli raced to a 10-2 lead, forcing Reggiana into early turnovers.
• Second Quarter: Reggiana's bench sparked a comeback, tying the game at 38-38 before Napoli closed the half on a 13-9 run.
• Third Quarter: A 12-2 Napoli surge, highlighted by a steal-and-score, gave the hosts a 10-point cushion.
• Fourth Quarter: Reggiana trimmed the lead to 91-89 with 2:30 remaining, but Napoli's clutch free throws and a key offensive rebound sealed the win.

Tactical Story

Napoli Basket's offense was built on high screens and dribble penetration. Their guards consistently beat Reggiana's perimeter defenders off the dribble, collapsing the defense and creating kick-out opportunities. Napoli finished with 22 assists on 35 made field goals, a testament to their unselfish play. Defensively, they switched aggressively on screens, limiting Reggiana's pick-and-roll efficiency.

Pallacanestro Reggiana, meanwhile, relied heavily on their half-court sets and three-point shooting. They connected on 12 three-pointers but shot only 40% from inside the arc. Their inability to generate second-chance points — they were out-rebounded 38-30 — proved costly. The decision to go small in the fourth quarter nearly worked, but Napoli's size on the boards ultimately won out.

Standout Players

Napoli's Matteo Moretti led all scorers with 24 points, adding 7 assists and 4 rebounds. He was instrumental in the third-quarter run and hit two crucial free throws in the final minute. Andrea Conti added 18 points and 9 rebounds, dominating the paint. Off the bench, Luca Ferri chipped in 14 points, including four three-pointers.

For Reggiana, Luca Bianchi scored 21 points and dished out 6 assists, while Marco Rossi added 17 points and 8 rebounds. Davide Esposito contributed 12 points off the bench, but Reggiana's stars were held to 8-of-22 shooting in the fourth quarter.

Standings and Season Impact

The victory improves Napoli Basket's record and keeps them in the hunt for a playoff spot in the Lega Basket Serie A. With the win, they move above .500 and gain momentum ahead of a tough road trip. For Pallacanestro Reggiana, the loss drops them in the standings and highlights their struggles on the road against top-half teams. The two sides will meet again later in the season, and if this game is any indication, it will be another high-scoring affair.

Napoli's 99-point outburst is a season-high and signals that their offense is clicking at the right time. Reggiana will look to regroup defensively before their next fixture.
