Givova Scafati Hold Off Aquila Basket Trento 87-81 in Serie A Battle

Givova Scafati secured an important 87-81 home victory over Aquila Basket Trento in Lega Basket Serie A action on October 25, 2026, using a balanced offensive effort and a decisive late run to close out a hard-fought contest. The result gives Scafati another valuable win in the early-season standings and hands Trento a frustrating road defeat after the visitors had stayed within striking distance for most of the night.

Match Overview

Scafati started with purpose at both ends, moving the ball quickly and attacking the paint before Trento’s defense could settle. The hosts built a 23-19 lead after the first quarter and maintained a narrow 45-41 advantage at halftime. Trento remained dangerous from the perimeter and repeatedly cut into the deficit in the third quarter, but Scafati answered each surge with timely shot-making and strong work on the glass.

The game tightened in the final period when Trento trimmed the margin to 79-77 with just over three minutes remaining. Scafati responded with an 8-0 run, capped by a corner three-pointer and two free throws, to create enough separation for the win. The hosts finished with a stronger closing stretch, limiting Trento to just four points in the final two minutes.

Key Moments

• Scafati’s 8-0 run in the fourth quarter turned a two-point lead into a 87-77 cushion.
• A defensive stop and fast-break layup shifted momentum firmly toward the home side late in the game.
• Trento’s three-point shooting kept the visitors alive, but costly turnovers in the final possessions prevented a comeback.

Tactical Story

Scafati’s half-court defense was the foundation of the win. The hosts protected the paint well, forced Trento into contested jump shots, and controlled the defensive glass when it mattered most. On offense, Scafati used pick-and-roll actions to create open looks for both guards and rolling big men, finishing with a healthy advantage in paint points.

Trento tried to push the pace and generate early offense from misses, but Scafati’s transition defense held up. The visitors stayed competitive through ball movement and outside shooting, yet they struggled to string together stops in the fourth quarter. Scafati’s ability to score inside and draw fouls late proved to be the difference in a game that was close for nearly 38 minutes.

Standout Players

Scafati guard Marcus Reed led all scorers with 24 points, adding seven rebounds and five assists. His shot creation in the fourth quarter gave the hosts a reliable answer whenever Trento threatened. Andrea Conti added 17 points and six rebounds, while center Matteo Rossi contributed 12 points and nine rebounds in the paint.

For Trento, Luca Bianchi scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds, while Davide Serra added 16 points. Trento’s backcourt combined for several timely three-pointers, but the team’s late turnovers and foul trouble limited its ability to complete the comeback.

Standings and Season Impact

The win strengthens Scafati’s position in the Lega Basket Serie A standings and gives the club momentum heading into its next fixture. For Trento, the loss is a missed opportunity on the road, though the performance showed enough offensive quality to suggest the team will remain competitive in the playoff race. Scafati’s late-game execution and defensive discipline were the defining features of a result that could matter when the standings are reviewed later in the season.
