How the game unfolded

BC Roma SPQR started brightly in front of its home crowd, scoring 26 points in the opening quarter and taking a narrow 26-25 lead. The hosts played with pace and attacked the basket aggressively, forcing Venezia to work hard on the defensive end. Venezia responded in the second quarter, scoring 27 points and holding Roma to 24 to take a 52-50 advantage into halftime.

The third quarter was an even contest, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to build a significant lead. Roma matched Venezia’s 26 points to keep the deficit at two heading into the final period. The game remained close early in the fourth, but Venezia gradually took control with a run of efficient offense and timely stops.

Key moments

The decisive stretch came midway through the fourth quarter. With the score tied at 84-84, Venezia produced a 9-0 run built on two three-pointers and a fast-break basket. The burst forced Roma into a timeout and gave the visitors a cushion they would not surrender. Roma fought back and cut the deficit to two points in the closing minutes, but Venezia answered with clutch free throws and a key offensive rebound to seal the win.

The final minute was nervy, but Venezia’s experience showed. The visitors made the right decisions with the ball, avoided turnovers and knocked down the free throws that Roma was forced to concede. Roma had one last chance to tie the game, but a contested three-pointer missed, and Venezia secured the rebound to close out the victory.

Tactical story

Venezia’s perimeter shooting was the standout feature of the game. The visitors spaced the floor well, moved the ball quickly and consistently found open shooters against Roma’s defense. Their three-point efficiency stretched the home side’s defense and opened driving lanes in the second half.

Roma played with energy and attacked the basket effectively, particularly in the first and third quarters. The hosts scored well in transition and used their athleticism to create second-chance opportunities. However, Venezia’s offensive rebounding and ability to score in the paint when the three-point shot was contested proved crucial in the fourth quarter. Roma’s defense struggled to contain Venezia’s balanced attack over the full 40 minutes.

Standout performers

Venezia’s backcourt controlled the game in the closing stages, combining scoring and playmaking to keep the offense flowing. The visitors’ leading scorer was effective from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line, while the frontcourt provided important rebounds and interior defense. For Roma, the guards created several good looks and the big men battled on the boards, but the home side could not match Venezia’s late-game execution.

What the result means

The win strengthens Reyer Venezia’s position in the Lega Basket Serie A standings and gives the team an important road result against a competitive opponent. For BC Roma SPQR, the loss is a frustrating one, but the performance showed the team can score with some of the league’s stronger sides. In a high-scoring game decided by fine margins, Venezia’s ability to execute in the fourth quarter made the difference.
