KB Sigal Prishtina edged KB Bashkimi 79-77 in a tense Superliga basketball matchup, turning a back-and-forth fourth quarter into a narrow home victory. The result gives Prishtina a valuable early-season win while leaving Bashkimi to reflect on a game that was decided by a handful of possessions.

Match overview

Prishtina opened with good energy in front of their home crowd, but Bashkimi stayed composed and kept the game within reach throughout the first half. The visitors moved the ball well against Prishtina’s initial pressure and found enough inside scoring to trail by only a small margin at the break. Neither side managed to build a double-digit lead, and every time one team threatened to pull away, the other answered with a timely basket.

The third quarter followed a similar pattern. Prishtina briefly looked ready to take control behind a stronger defensive stretch, but Bashkimi’s perimeter shooting kept the visitors close. Entering the final period, the game was still wide open, setting up a finish that felt more like a playoff contest than an early-season league fixture.

Key moments

The decisive stretch came in the last three minutes. With the score tied, Prishtina forced a contested miss and converted on the other end through a second-chance basket. Bashkimi had chances to respond, but a pair of hurried possessions and one costly turnover allowed Prishtina to edge ahead. In the final seconds, Bashkimi got a look at a potential game-tying shot, but it rimmed out, and Prishtina secured the rebound to close out the 79-77 win.

• Prishtina’s late offensive rebound led to the go-ahead basket.
• Bashkimi was held without a field goal for nearly two minutes in crunch time.
• Free-throw execution in the final 30 seconds proved decisive.

Tactical story

Prishtina’s half-court defense was the difference in the closing minutes. The home side tightened its help rotations and made Bashkimi work deep into the shot clock, limiting clean looks from beyond the arc. On offense, Prishtina attacked the paint more aggressively after halftime, drawing fouls and creating second-chance opportunities. Bashkimi’s ball movement was effective for long stretches, but the visitors struggled to match Prishtina’s physicality on the glass when the game slowed down.

Standout performers

Prishtina’s backcourt controlled the tempo and made several important decisions late, while the frontcourt delivered crucial rebounds in traffic. Bashkimi’s leading scorer kept the visitors in the game with timely shot-making, and their defensive pressure forced Prishtina into several uncomfortable possessions. In the end, however, Prishtina had just enough balance and poise to finish the job.

What it means

The win strengthens Prishtina’s position in the Superliga standings and gives the team momentum heading into its next fixture. For Bashkimi, the loss is a narrow one that will sting, but the performance showed enough fight to suggest the team can compete with the league’s stronger sides. With the margin this small, the head-to-head rematch later in the season could carry extra significance.
