Wonju Dongbu Promy walked into Suwon KT Arena on October 23, 2026, and left with a 102-95 road win over Suwon KT Sonicboom, using a late fourth-quarter surge to spoil the home side’s evening in the Korean Basketball League. The game was fast, physical and close for three quarters before Dongbu Promy’s backcourt and offensive rebounding took over down the stretch.

Match overview

Both teams came out firing. Suwon KT led briefly in the first quarter, but Wonju Dongbu Promy answered with a steady stream of pick-and-roll baskets and transition opportunities. The Promy led 28-24 after one quarter and 52-48 at halftime. Suwon KT clawed back in the third, tying the game at 74-74 heading into the final period, but the visitors owned the last eight minutes. A 10-0 run turned an 84-82 deficit into a 92-84 lead, and Suwon KT never recovered.

Key moments

• Fourth-quarter run: With 6:30 remaining and Suwon KT ahead 84-82, Wonju Dongbu Promy reeled off 10 straight points. Ethan Alvano hit a pull-up three, Kim Jong-kyu converted an and-one, and Park Ji-hoon capped the burst with a corner triple.
• Offensive rebounding: The Promy grabbed 13 offensive rebounds, leading to 18 second-chance points. Several of those came in the final six minutes when Suwon KT’s defense failed to box out.
• Free-throw disparity: Wonju Dongbu Promy went 22-of-26 from the line, while Suwon KT shot 14-of-19. The visitors’ ability to draw contact in the paint proved decisive.

Tactical story

Wonju Dongbu Promy built its offense around high ball screens for Ethan Alvano, forcing Suwon KT’s big men into uncomfortable switches. When KT hedged hard, Alvano found Kim Jong-kyu rolling to the rim or kick-out shooters on the wing. Suwon KT, meanwhile, relied heavily on Heo Hoon’s shot creation and Ha Yoon-ki’s post touches. That worked for long stretches, but KT’s half-court defense broke down late, allowing too many second-chance opportunities and open catch-and-shoot threes.

Standout players

• Ethan Alvano (Wonju Dongbu Promy): 28 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. He controlled the fourth quarter and made the biggest shot of the game.
• Kim Jong-kyu (Wonju Dongbu Promy): 22 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocks. He dominated the paint on both ends.
• Park Ji-hoon (Wonju Dongbu Promy): 15 points and 6 rebounds, including two clutch threes in the final period.
• Heo Hoon (Suwon KT Sonicboom): 26 points and 5 assists. He kept KT in the game but had little help late.
• Ha Yoon-ki (Suwon KT Sonicboom): 19 points and 10 rebounds. He was efficient inside but struggled to protect the rim against Dongbu’s guards.

Season impact

The result gives Wonju Dongbu Promy early momentum in the Korean Basketball League standings and confirms their ability to win on the road against playoff-caliber opponents. For Suwon KT Sonicboom, the loss is a reminder that their defense must improve in crunch time. KT has the scoring punch to compete with anyone in the KBL, but allowing 102 points at home — including 24 in the fourth quarter — is a trend the coaching staff will want to correct quickly.
