Almaty Legion 2 delivered a dominant home performance in the Higher League, overwhelming Pavlodar Region 107-79 on 23 October 2026. Passing the century mark with a 28-point winning margin, Legion 2 controlled the contest from the second quarter onwards and never allowed their visitors back into it.

Match Overview

The 14:45 tip-off produced an entertaining, high-tempo game, but the story was one of near-total control from the home side. Legion 2 shared the ball superbly, shot at a high percentage and applied defensive pressure that forced Pavlodar into difficult, late-clock attempts. By the fourth quarter the result was settled, and the hosts were able to rotate their bench while maintaining the standard of play.

The 107-79 scoreline is a statement in a developmental league context: it shows both the offensive ceiling of Legion 2 and the defensive struggles Pavlodar Region must address.

Key Moments

• First quarter: A competitive opening, with Pavlodar matching the hosts early thanks to efficient inside scoring.
• Second quarter: Legion 2's decisive break — a run of three-pointers and fast-break points opened a comfortable halftime lead.
• Third quarter: The hosts maintained their intensity, extending the advantage through disciplined half-court execution and rebounding dominance.
• Fourth quarter: Bench rotation for Legion 2 without any drop-off, as the lead remained steady through to the final buzzer.

Tactical Story

Almaty Legion 2's performance was founded on ball movement. They generated open shots through extra passes, attacked closeouts decisively and punished Pavlodar's defensive rotations. Their shooting efficiency from beyond the arc was a major factor in the size of the final margin.

Defensively, the hosts controlled the defensive glass and limited second-chance opportunities — a crucial edge in a fast-paced game. Pavlodar Region had spells of good offence, particularly when attacking the basket, but they could not match Legion 2's scoring rate over 40 minutes. Turnovers in the second and third quarters allowed the hosts to pull away.

Standout Performers

Legion 2's attacking depth was the highlight, with contributions across the rotation and a bench that added energy and scoring. Their leading scorers dictated the flow of the game, while the defensive effort across the team restricted Pavlodar's efficiency.

Pavlodar Region's best moments came from aggressive drives to the rim, where they drew fouls and created chances. Their late-game effort remained professional, but the gap established in the second quarter proved too wide to close.

Season Impact

A 28-point win with a century-plus scoreline gives Almaty Legion 2 real momentum in the Higher League and reinforces their reputation as one of the more dangerous offensive sides in the competition. For Pavlodar Region, the focus will be on defensive structure and limiting turnovers — elements that turned a competitive opening quarter into a lopsided final score.
