Besiktas JK Women secured a hard-fought 65-56 home victory over Kayseri Bellona Women in the Turkish Women’s Basketball Super League on Sunday evening. In a game defined by defense and physicality, Besiktas used a strong third quarter to pull away and then held off a late Kayseri push to protect their home court.

Match overview

The visitors started brightly and matched Besiktas blow for blow in the opening quarter. But the home side gradually imposed their defensive identity, forcing Kayseri into contested shots and turnovers. The final margin of nine points slightly flattered Kayseri, who trailed by double digits for much of the fourth quarter before a late flurry narrowed the gap.

• First quarter: Besiktas JK Women 18-14 Kayseri Bellona Women
• Second quarter: Besiktas JK Women 15-16 Kayseri Bellona Women
• Third quarter: Besiktas JK Women 17-13 Kayseri Bellona Women
• Fourth quarter: Besiktas JK Women 15-13 Kayseri Bellona Women
• Final score: Besiktas JK Women 65-56 Kayseri Bellona Women

How the game was won

Besiktas’s defense was the difference. They held Kayseri to 56 points and forced 18 turnovers, many of which turned into transition opportunities. The home side’s guards did an excellent job of pressuring the ball, while their bigs protected the rim without fouling excessively. That combination disrupted Kayseri’s half-court rhythm and limited their second-chance points.

The pivotal stretch came midway through the third quarter. With Besiktas leading by five, they went on a 9-0 run that pushed the advantage to 14. Kayseri responded with a brief surge in the fourth, but Besiktas’s veteran leaders steadied the ship with timely baskets and free throws down the stretch.

Tactical story

Kayseri Bellona Women tried to slow the game down and feed their interior players, but Besiktas’s frontcourt held its ground. The visitors were forced to settle for mid-range jumpers, and their three-point shooting was inconsistent. Defensively, Kayseri struggled to contain Besiktas’s dribble penetration, leading to open kick-out threes and offensive rebounds.

Besiktas’s offensive balance was impressive. Elif Bayram led the way with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, attacking the basket with confidence. Fellow guard Pelin Duman added 13 points and 5 steals, setting the tone at the top of the defense. Inside, Selin Arslan contributed 10 points and 9 rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double.

For Kayseri, Melike İnce was the standout with 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Ayşe Kaya added 11 points. But the supporting cast combined for just 29 points on 33% shooting, which proved too little against a disciplined Besiktas defense.

Standout players

• Elif Bayram (Besiktas JK Women): 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists — the best player on the floor.
• Pelin Duman (Besiktas JK Women): 13 points, 5 steals — disruptive on both ends.
• Selin Arslan (Besiktas JK Women): 10 points, 9 rebounds — controlled the paint.
• Melike İnce (Kayseri Bellona Women): 16 points, 8 rebounds — kept Kayseri competitive.

Season impact

The win lifts Besiktas JK Women in the Turkish Women’s Basketball Super League standings and reinforces their playoff ambitions. Kayseri Bellona Women remain a dangerous opponent but will need more consistency from their perimeter players to climb the table. The head-to-head rematch later in the season will be an important opportunity for Kayseri to adjust, especially if they can reduce turnovers and improve their three-point shooting.
