Sanga Milano Women claimed a valuable 56-44 road victory over G.S. Dil. Basket San Salvatore Women in Italy Women A2 on October 17, 2026. The visitors used a patient offensive approach and a disciplined defensive effort to pull away in the second half, turning a tight contest into a 12-point win. The result gives Sanga Milano an important boost in the league standings and hands San Salvatore a home defeat to reflect on.

Match overview

The game began at a cautious pace, with both teams feeling each other out in the half-court. San Salvatore found some early joy inside, while Sanga Milano relied on ball movement and perimeter shooting to stay close. Neither side managed to establish a significant advantage in the first quarter, and the defensive intensity on both ends kept the scoring relatively low.

Sanga Milano gradually took control as the game wore on. Their guards handled pressure well, their forwards contested rebounds and the team's help defense forced San Salvatore into several late-shot-clock attempts. The visitors' lead grew steadily in the third quarter, and they protected it with smart clock management in the final period.

Key moments

The turning point arrived midway through the third quarter. With the game still within reach, Sanga Milano produced a decisive run built on defensive stops and quick outlet passes. A pair of transition baskets and an open three-pointer forced San Salvatore to call timeout, but the momentum had already shifted.

San Salvatore tried to respond with a more aggressive approach in the fourth quarter, but Sanga Milano's defense held firm. The home side managed only 44 points for the game, a testament to the visitors' ability to close down driving lanes and contest shots without fouling unnecessarily.

Tactical story

Sanga Milano's offensive balance was key. Rather than relying on one dominant scorer, they shared the ball and attacked mismatches when they appeared. Their spacing allowed guards to penetrate and kick out to open shooters, and they consistently made the extra pass against San Salvatore's rotating defense.

San Salvatore's struggles came largely from inefficient shooting and turnovers. When they did break Sanga Milano's pressure, they often rushed the finish or lost the ball in traffic. Defensively, the home side competed on the glass but could not prevent Sanga Milano from getting comfortable looks in the second half.

Standout performers

Sanga Milano's backcourt controlled the tempo and made several important plays in the third-quarter run. Their interior players also contributed key rebounds and second-chance points, ensuring the visitors stayed ahead even when the pace slowed. San Salvatore had encouraging spells from their forwards, but the team's overall offensive consistency was not enough against a well-organized opponent.

League impact

The win strengthens Sanga Milano Women's position in the Italy Women A2 standings and gives the club confidence ahead of a demanding stretch of fixtures. Road victories in a competitive league are especially valuable, and this performance showed the team can win with defense when the shooting is not at its best.

For G.S. Dil. Basket San Salvatore Women, the 44-56 loss highlights the need for more reliable scoring in the half-court and better care of the ball under pressure. The team remains capable of competing in the division, but will need to turn promising defensive possessions into points at the other end.
