ASD Alpo Basket 99 Women delivered a statement performance in Italy Women A2, dismantling Carugate Women 89-61 on October 4, 2026. The hosts controlled the game from the opening tip, combining efficient offense with suffocating defense to secure a lopsided victory that underlined their promotion ambitions.

Match Overview

Alpo Basket 99 set the tone immediately, racing to a 24-14 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter was even more dominant, as the hosts extended their advantage to 47-30 by halftime. Carugate tried to adjust defensively in the third quarter, but Alpo’s ball movement and outside shooting proved too much to handle. The lead swelled to 68-45 after three periods, and the final quarter was played largely with the outcome already decided. Alpo cruised to the 89-61 final, never allowing Carugate to mount a serious comeback.

Key Moments

The game’s defining stretch came early. With the score 8-6 in favor of Alpo, the hosts went on a 10-0 run, capped by back-to-back three-pointers from Giulia Rossi. That burst forced Carugate to call a timeout, but the momentum had already shifted. In the second quarter, Alpo pushed the lead to 20 points with a fast-break layup from Sara Bianchi. Carugate briefly threatened in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 14 at 54-40, but Alpo responded with a 14-5 run to end any hopes of a comeback. The fourth quarter saw the hosts empty their bench while maintaining a comfortable cushion.

Tactical Story

Alpo Basket 99’s offensive execution was clinical. The team shot well from beyond the arc and consistently found open cutters against Carugate’s man-to-man defense. Point guard Elena Ferrari controlled the pace, finishing with a game-high 9 assists, while the frontcourt of Bianchi and Martina Russo dominated the boards. Defensively, Alpo forced Carugate into 20 turnovers and limited second-chance points with strong box-outs. Carugate’s offense often stalled in the half-court, relying on isolation plays that Alpo’s help defense easily absorbed. The rebounding battle was one-sided, and Alpo’s transition game turned defensive stops into easy points.

Season Impact

For Carugate, the heavy defeat exposes areas that need improvement, particularly ball security and half-court execution. Both teams will look to adjust quickly as the Italian second division season continues, with Alpo aiming to sustain their early momentum and Carugate seeking a response in their next outing.
