Key moments

The game’s decisive stretch came late in the first quarter and early in the second. San Giovanni put together a 10-0 run that turned a close opening into a double-digit lead, and Roseto never fully recovered. Every time the hosts tried to string together baskets, San Giovanni answered with a defensive stop or a well-executed offensive possession. The third quarter was especially punishing for Roseto, who managed only eight points and saw the deficit grow to 18.

Tactical story

San Giovanni’s defense was the story of the night. They crowded the paint, closed out aggressively on shooters, and forced Roseto into contested mid-range attempts. On offense, San Giovanni did not need a high-powered scoring night; instead, they valued possessions, attacked mismatches, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities. Roseto struggled to establish any inside presence and found few clean looks from beyond the arc.

Standout performers

San Giovanni’s interior defenders controlled the glass and altered shots, while their guards managed the game with maturity. Roseto’s best moments came from individual effort on the defensive end, but the hosts lacked the offensive spark needed to make a serious run. The visitors’ bench also contributed important minutes, helping maintain the defensive intensity when starters rotated.

What the result means

The victory is a significant confidence boost for San Giovanni Women and adds a strong road result to their Lega Basket Serie A Women campaign. The margin also helps their points differential, which can matter in a tightly packed table. For Roseto Women, the priority is clear: finding more consistent offense and reducing turnovers. The defensive effort was respectable, but 38 points will rarely be enough to win at this level.
