BCC Derthona Basket (W) earned a hard-fought 68-62 road victory over Kanpo Women in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A Women on October 26, 2026, relying on late-game composure and defensive rebounding to edge a tightly contested matchup.

The game remained close throughout, with neither team able to build a double-digit lead. Derthona held a narrow 35-30 advantage at halftime and survived a determined second-half push from Kanpo, sealing the win with key stops and free throws in the final two minutes.

Game Flow

Kanpo Women started well in front of their home crowd, using patient half-court offense and accurate outside shooting to stay step for step with Derthona early. The first quarter ended 18-16 in Derthona’s favour, and the visitors added a small cushion in the second period.

• First quarter: Kanpo Women 16-18 BCC Derthona Basket (W)
• Second quarter: Kanpo Women 14-17 BCC Derthona Basket (W)
• Third quarter: Kanpo Women 18-16 BCC Derthona Basket (W)
• Fourth quarter: Kanpo Women 14-17 BCC Derthona Basket (W)

The third quarter was Kanpo’s best stretch. They increased their defensive pressure, forced Derthona into contested shots and briefly cut the deficit to two points. However, Derthona responded with timely baskets and entered the final period with a narrow lead.

Key Moments

With the game tied at 58-58 inside the final four minutes, Derthona produced the decisive run. A corner three-pointer and a strong offensive rebound led to second-chance free throws, pushing the lead to five. Kanpo had chances to respond, but two missed three-point attempts and a costly turnover allowed Derthona to close out the game at the free-throw line.

The visitors’ execution in the final two minutes was the difference. They slowed the tempo, attacked the right matchups and made enough free throws to keep Kanpo from completing a comeback.

Tactical Story

Derthona’s defensive rebounding was a key factor in the win. They limited Kanpo’s second-chance opportunities and forced the home side into difficult contested jump shots late in the clock. Offensively, Derthona attacked the paint selectively, drawing fouls and creating open looks from the perimeter when Kanpo collapsed on the ball.

Kanpo Women stayed in the game through their three-point shooting and disciplined half-court sets, but they struggled to contain Derthona’s guards in isolation situations. The home side also gave up several crucial offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter, which proved costly in such a close game.

Standout Performers

Derthona’s backcourt delivered important baskets down the stretch and controlled the pace when the game tightened. Their interior players battled on the glass and made key defensive stops. For Kanpo Women, the perimeter shooting and scoring effort kept them within striking distance, but the team could not find one final run in the closing minutes.

Standings Impact

The 68-62 road win is a valuable result for BCC Derthona Basket (W) in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A Women and strengthens their position in the standings. Kanpo Women will take encouragement from their competitiveness but will rue missed opportunities and late turnovers in a game that was there for the taking.
