Famila Wuber Schio Women produced a dominant statement in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A Women, dismantling San Giovanni Women 85-43 in a game that was effectively decided long before the final buzzer. Schio controlled every phase, led from start to finish, and turned a highly anticipated league matchup into a one-sided showcase of depth, defensive intensity, and offensive balance.

Match overview

From the opening tip, Famila Wuber Schio Women looked sharper and more physical. They pushed the pace, attacked the paint, and forced San Giovanni into difficult, contested shots. By the end of the first quarter, Schio had established a 24-12 lead, and the advantage only grew as their defensive pressure began to generate easy transition opportunities.

The second quarter was the game’s decisive stretch. Schio held San Giovanni to just eight points while pouring in 21 of their own, opening a 45-20 halftime lead. The home side’s ball movement was crisp, their shooters were confident, and their interior defense made every San Giovanni possession a grind.

Quarter-by-quarter breakdown

Key moments

The most damaging run came midway through the second quarter. Schio rattled off 14 unanswered points, converting turnovers into layups and kick-out three-pointers. San Giovanni called timeout, but the momentum had already shifted irreversibly. Another surge early in the third quarter pushed the margin past 30, and Schio’s bench maintained the same defensive standard until the final minutes.

Standout performers

Schio’s backcourt set the tone with on-ball pressure and intelligent decision-making in the pick-and-roll. The guards repeatedly turned the corner, drew help defenders, and found open teammates on the perimeter or rolling bigs at the rim. The frontcourt controlled the glass at both ends, limiting San Giovanni to very few second-chance points.

San Giovanni’s struggles were collective. Their half-court offense lacked rhythm, and when Schio switched aggressively on screens, the visitors could not generate clean looks. A few individual drives produced brief sparks, but there was no sustained answer on either end.

Tactical story

Schio’s defensive scheme was the foundation of the win. They switched most screens, denied penetration, and forced San Giovanni to play sideways rather than downhill. Offensively, Schio shared the ball beautifully, racking up assists on a high percentage of made baskets. Their spacing stretched San Giovanni’s defense, creating driving lanes and open corner threes.

What it means for the standings

The 42-point victory is more than just a win; it is a message to the rest of the Lega Basket Serie A Women. Schio strengthened their position among the title contenders and added a significant point-differential boost that could matter in tiebreakers. For San Giovanni Women, the focus now shifts to regrouping, protecting the basketball, and finding a more reliable half-court scoring option before the next round.

Final score: Famila Wuber Schio Women 85, San Giovanni Women 43.
