Famila Wuber Schio Women produced a statement performance in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A Women on Saturday, overwhelming Costa Masnaga Women 98-40 on the road. A 58-point victory is the sort of result that resonates across the entire league, and the visitors achieved it with a complete team display at both ends of the court.

A Commanding Start

Schio set the tone immediately, racing to a 26-12 lead after the first quarter. Their defensive pressure disrupted Masnaga's half-court sets, forcing hurried shots and long possessions that ended without reward. Once the visitors found their rhythm offensively, the game quickly became one-way traffic.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• First quarter: Costa Masnaga 12, Famila Wuber Schio 26
• Second quarter: Costa Masnaga 8, Famila Wuber Schio 24
• Third quarter: Costa Masnaga 11, Famila Wuber Schio 26
• Fourth quarter: Costa Masnaga 9, Famila Wuber Schio 22
• Final score: Costa Masnaga 40, Famila Wuber Schio 98

The second quarter was the most emphatic stretch of the contest, with Schio conceding just eight points while adding 24 of their own. That 16-point swing effectively ended the match as a competition before half-time.

Defence as the Foundation

Holding any opponent to 40 points across 40 minutes is a remarkable defensive achievement, and it reflected Schio's discipline at every level. Closeouts were sharp, help defence arrived on time, and the rebounding battle was won decisively. Masnaga were denied second-chance points and rarely earned trips to the free-throw line, two factors that make it almost impossible to keep pace with an elite side.

On offence, Schio shared the ball beautifully. Rather than relying on isolation play, they moved the ball until a quality look appeared, which explains the balanced scoring spread and the consistently high shooting percentages. When a team scores 22 or more in every quarter, it is usually a sign of patience and execution rather than individual brilliance alone.

Key Takeaways

• Margin of victory: 58 points — a result that underlines Schio's credentials among the league's leading contenders.
• Defensive control: No quarter allowed Masnaga to exceed 12 points.
• Depth: Schio's rotation maintained intensity deep into the second half, suggesting strong squad resources for the season ahead.

What It Means for Both Sides

For Famila Wuber Schio Women, this is a confidence-building result that also improves their point differential in the Serie A Women standings — a metric that can matter when the playoff picture tightens. Performances like this reinforce the club's reputation as a perennial force in Italian women's basketball.

Costa Masnaga Women will want to move on quickly. Heavy defeats can dent morale, but they also provide clarity: the priority will be ball security, better shot selection and finding ways to score when the primary options are taken away. Against a team of Schio's quality, the lesson is less about effort and more about execution under pressure.

Looking Ahead

Schio will aim to carry this defensive standard into their next fixture, knowing that consistency across the season is what separates title challengers from mid-table sides. Masnaga, meanwhile, will target a response in their next outing, focusing on competing for the full 40 minutes and rebuilding rhythm on the offensive end.
