Fila San Martino Di Lupari Women secured an 83-71 road win over Brixia Women in Italian Lega Basket Serie A Women play, pulling away in the fourth quarter after a competitive opening three periods. The visitors’ balanced scoring and late-game execution proved too much for Brixia, who stayed within reach but could not close the gap when it mattered most.

The third quarter was tighter, with Brixia matching San Martino for long stretches, yet the hosts could not turn their improved energy into a sustained run. Key moments

Brixia’s best chance to change the game came midway through the third quarter, when a quick scoring burst cut the deficit to five. San Martino absorbed the pressure and answered with a timely three-pointer before closing the period with a narrow advantage. The visitors then opened the fourth with a 10-2 run that pushed the lead back into double digits. Brixia fought to the final whistle, but San Martino’s shot-making and free-throw accuracy kept the hosts at arm’s length.

Tactical story

San Martino’s offense was built on quick ball movement and aggressive drives that collapsed Brixia’s defense. When Brixia helped inside, the visitors found open shooters; when the hosts stayed home, San Martino attacked the rim. Brixia had success in transition and on the offensive glass, but their half-court offense became too reliant on individual plays in the fourth quarter. San Martino’s defensive adjustments late in the game forced Brixia into rushed shots.

Standout performers

San Martino’s guards controlled the pace and made several clutch plays in the final period, while their frontcourt battled hard on the boards. Brixia’s leading scorers kept the team in contention with determined drives and mid-range shooting, but the hosts lacked the same depth of scoring in the closing minutes. The visitors’ bench provided a valuable spark, particularly on the defensive end.

What the result means

The win strengthens Fila San Martino Di Lupari Women’s position in the Lega Basket Serie A Women standings and gives them a useful road victory against a competitive opponent. For Brixia Women, the performance showed promise but also highlighted the need for more consistent execution late in games. The hosts will need to turn competitive stretches into complete quarters if they are to climb the table.
