Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan Maccabi Raanana Women produced a commanding performance on October 20, 2026, defeating Hapoel Petah Tikvah Women 79-52 in the Israel Women’s Premier League. The 27-point margin reflected a game that steadily slipped away from the visitors after a competitive opening period.

Match overview

Maccabi Raanana set the tone with active defense and quick ball movement, forcing Hapoel Petah Tikvah into difficult shots and rushed possessions. The hosts built their advantage through balanced scoring rather than relying on a single hot hand, which made them difficult to contain once the game settled into a half-court rhythm.

Hapoel Petah Tikvah had bright moments early, particularly when attacking the basket, but the visitors could not sustain their execution. As the game wore on, Maccabi Raanana’s depth and defensive pressure turned a modest lead into a comfortable victory.

How the game turned

The first quarter was relatively tight, with both teams feeling each other out. The decisive shift came before halftime, when Maccabi Raanana increased its defensive intensity and began converting turnovers into points. A series of stops and fast-break finishes opened up a double-digit cushion and forced Hapoel Petah Tikvah to play from behind.

The third quarter effectively sealed the result. Maccabi Raanana continued to move the ball efficiently, attacked closeouts and punished the visitors on the offensive glass. Hapoel Petah Tikvah, meanwhile, struggled to find consistent scoring and saw several possessions end without a shot at the rim.

Tactical story

Maccabi Raanana’s biggest advantage came at the defensive end. The hosts contested shots, rotated well and limited easy looks from the perimeter. Offensively, they played with patience, using ball screens and extra passes to create open shots. Their transition game was also effective, especially after missed Hapoel Petah Tikvah attempts.

Hapoel Petah Tikvah’s best spells came when the team played inside-out and drew fouls. However, the visitors were unable to string together enough stops to slow Maccabi Raanana’s momentum. The rebounding battle also tilted toward the hosts, giving them extra possessions and keeping the pressure on.

Standout performers

• Maccabi Raanana’s guards: Controlled the tempo and consistently found open teammates in transition and half-court sets.
• Maccabi Raanana’s frontcourt: Owned the glass and protected the paint, making second-chance points difficult for Hapoel Petah Tikvah.
• Hapoel Petah Tikvah’s interior players: Showed fight on the boards, but the team’s outside shooting never found a reliable rhythm.

Season impact

The 79-52 win strengthens Maccabi Raanana’s position in the Israel Women’s Premier League and gives the team confidence heading into its next fixtures. For Hapoel Petah Tikvah, the defeat highlights the need for more consistent scoring and better ball security against pressure defenses. The head-to-head result will remain a useful reference point as both teams continue their league campaigns.
