Key moments

The game turned on a 9-2 run early in the fourth quarter. Raanana forced two straight turnovers and converted both into transition points, then added a three-pointer from the wing to push the lead to eight. Haifa answered with a pair of free throws and a baseline jumper, but Raanana’s half-court defense held firm over the final three minutes. A late offensive rebound and putback effectively sealed the result.

Tactical story

Raanana’s ability to switch defenses and contest shooters without giving up easy drives was central to the win. The visitors forced Haifa into contested mid-range attempts and limited second-chance opportunities by boxing out consistently. Offensively, Raanana shared the ball well, creating open looks through ball screens and weak-side movement. Haifa remained dangerous from the perimeter but struggled to generate clean looks when Raanana extended its defense in the fourth quarter.

Standout players

Raanana’s backcourt leader set the tone with composed ball-handling and timely shot-making, while the team’s forwards did the dirty work on the glass. Haifa’s top scorer kept the home side in contention with a strong first half, and the team’s guards applied pressure defensively throughout. The difference was Raanana’s balance: multiple players contributed in the closing minutes, making it difficult for Haifa to key on one option.

Season impact

The win gives Maccabi Raanana an important road result in the Israel Women’s Premier League standings and strengthens its position in the upper half of the table. Haifa’s loss is a narrow one, but it highlights the importance of late-game execution in a competitive league. Both teams will take lessons from the matchup, with Raanana’s fourth-quarter poise standing out as the defining feature of the contest.
