Hapoel Rishon Le Zion Women produced the most entertaining performance of the night on 29 September 2026, outgunning Bnei Yehuda (W) 84-73 in a high-tempo Israel Women's Premier League clash. In a game that featured pace, perimeter shooting and plenty of transition basketball, Rishon Le Zion's superior depth and shot-making proved decisive down the stretch.

Match Overview

From the opening tip, both teams committed to an up-tempo approach. Rishon Le Zion pushed the ball at every opportunity, attacking before Bnei Yehuda's defense could set, while the visitors responded with confident outside shooting that kept the scoreboard moving. It made for a refreshing contrast to the league's more grinding contests, and the crowd responded to it.

The hosts held a narrow advantage through the first half, but the game remained genuinely open. The decisive stretch came after the interval, when Rishon Le Zion's defensive intensity lifted and a flurry of steals turned into easy transition points. From there, they managed the game expertly, keeping Bnei Yehuda at arm's length despite a spirited late push.

Quarter-by-Quarter Flow

• First quarter: A fast, free-scoring opening. Both teams shot well and the lead changed hands several times.
• Second quarter: Rishon Le Zion's bench made an impact, maintaining the tempo and giving the hosts a slim half-time cushion.
• Third quarter: The turning point. Increased defensive pressure produced turnovers, and Rishon Le Zion converted them into a double-digit lead.
• Fourth quarter: Bnei Yehuda fought back with three-point shooting, but the hosts answered every run with composed execution.

Tactical Story

Rishon Le Zion won this game by controlling the tempo. Their guards advanced the ball quickly after made baskets and rebounds, forcing Bnei Yehuda to defend in scramble mode. When the visitors did manage to slow things down, Rishon Le Zion had enough half-court structure to create good shots, particularly through dribble penetration and kick-outs to the corners.

Defensively, the hosts made a clear adjustment at half-time. By switching more aggressively on screens and trapping the ball handler in pick-and-roll situations, they disrupted Bnei Yehuda's rhythm and generated the turnovers that fuelled their run. Bnei Yehuda's willingness to keep shooting from deep kept them alive, but the 11-point margin reflects the difference in defensive disruption between the two sides.

Standout Performers

Rishon Le Zion's backcourt dictated the game, combining scoring with playmaking and repeatedly breaking down the defense off the dribble. Inside, their bigs ran the floor hard, finishing transition opportunities and cleaning up the offensive glass. The bench was arguably the story of the game, providing energy and scoring exactly when the starters needed a breather.

For Bnei Yehuda (W), there were encouraging signs despite the loss. Their perimeter shooting was dangerous and they never allowed the game to get fully out of reach, cutting the deficit late behind a run of long-range baskets. Their challenge going forward is defensive: 84 points conceded is hard to overcome regardless of how well a team shoots.

What It Means for the Standings

An 84-point performance is a statement in the Israel Women's Premier League, and it gives Hapoel Rishon Le Zion Women a confidence-boosting home win and a healthy boost to their early-season standing. For Bnei Yehuda, the result is a reminder of how punishing the league can be when defensive details slip. The offensive foundation is clearly there; tightening up on the other end is the next step.
