Hapoel Petah Tikvah Women edged Bnei Yehuda (W) 64-63 in a tense Israel Women’s Premier League matchup on October 26, 2026. The one-point result came down to the final possessions, with Petah Tikvah’s late execution proving just enough to secure the win.

Match Overview

The game was a defensive battle from the outset, with both teams struggling to find consistent offensive rhythm. Hapoel Petah Tikvah Women used aggressive perimeter defense to disrupt Bnei Yehuda’s ball movement, while Bnei Yehuda answered with a compact interior defense that forced contested shots.

Neither side led by a comfortable margin at any point. The lead changed hands multiple times, and the atmosphere grew increasingly tense as the fourth quarter approached. Every possession felt magnified, and both teams understood the value of a single stop or basket.

Key Moments

The final minute provided the drama. With the game hanging in the balance, Hapoel Petah Tikvah Women produced a crucial defensive stop and followed it with a composed offensive possession to take the narrow lead. Bnei Yehuda had a final chance to respond, but Petah Tikvah’s defense held firm and forced a difficult shot.

Free-throw shooting also played a key role. Petah Tikvah converted enough of their late attempts to keep their noses in front, while Bnei Yehuda were left ruing a few missed opportunities earlier in the quarter.

Tactical Story

Both teams prioritized defense, which led to a low-scoring, half-court-oriented contest. Petah Tikvah’s guards worked hard to deny clean entry passes, and their help defense rotated quickly when Bnei Yehuda tried to attack inside. Offensively, Petah Tikvah relied on patience, looking for open cutters and kick-out opportunities.

Bnei Yehuda’s best stretches came when they increased their pace and attacked before the defense could set. However, they were unable to sustain that approach, and Petah Tikvah’s disciplined half-court defense ultimately made the difference.

Standout Performers

Hapoel Petah Tikvah Women received important contributions from their backcourt, which handled pressure and made key decisions late. Their interior players battled on the boards and contested shots without giving up easy second-chance points. The team’s collective composure in the final minute was the defining feature of the win.

Bnei Yehuda showed resilience and defensive intensity throughout, but their offense stalled at crucial moments. They will need to find more reliable scoring options in close games as the season progresses.

Season Impact

The one-point win gives Hapoel Petah Tikvah Women a valuable boost in the Israel Women’s Premier League standings and underlines their ability to win tight, defensive contests. For Bnei Yehuda, the loss is a painful one, but the performance showed they can compete in low-scoring battles. Both teams will take away important lessons about execution and composure in the final minutes.
