Key Moments That Decided the Game

The third quarter was where Ironi Kiryat Ata built the platform for victory. Trailing 54-53 early in the period, the visitors went on a 12-3 run over a four-minute stretch, capped by a transition dunk that silenced the home crowd. Hapoel HaEmek struggled with turnovers during that sequence and lost some of the rhythm that had carried them in the first half.

In the fourth, Hapoel HaEmek nearly erased all of that work. A 9-0 run midway through the quarter cut the deficit to two, and a corner three with just over a minute remaining tied the game at 96-96. Kiryat Ata responded with a patient possession, drawing a foul and hitting one of two free throws to edge ahead 97-96. After Hapoel briefly regained the lead at 98-97, Kiryat Ata scored the game's final basket on a driving layup with seconds remaining.

Hapoel HaEmek had one last chance. After a timeout, the hosts worked the ball to their best shooter, but the contested three-pointer rimmed out as the buzzer sounded. Kiryat Ata players celebrated a hard-earned 99-98 win, while Hapoel were left to rue a few empty possessions in the closing minutes.

Tactical Story: How Kiryat Ata Survived

Ironi Kiryat Ata's game plan was built on defensive flexibility. They switched aggressively on screens, disrupted Hapoel's pick-and-roll rhythm, and dared the hosts' big men to beat them from the perimeter. That approach paid off in the third quarter, when Hapoel's offense stalled and Kiryat Ata turned defense into offense.

Offensively, Kiryat Ata shared the ball beautifully. They finished with 22 assists on 36 made field goals, constantly finding the open man against Hapoel's rotating defense. Their backcourt controlled the tempo, especially in the final five minutes, when they slowed the game down and attacked matchups rather than settling for quick shots.
