Key Moments

The decisive stretch came early in the third quarter. Maccabi Raanana opened the second half with a 10-2 run, forcing Kiryat Gat into contested shots and pushing the tempo whenever a defensive rebound was secured. That burst changed the game from a possession-by-possession battle into a chase for the home side.

Kiryat Gat briefly threatened to climb back into contention late in the third, cutting the deficit to single digits behind stronger work on the offensive glass. But Raanana had an answer each time, often through a well-timed three-pointer or a drive that drew a foul. The visitors closed the quarter with a 73-62 lead and controlled the final ten minutes with composed half-court execution.

Tactical Story

Maccabi Raanana’s advantage came from balance. The visitors spread the floor, moved the ball through multiple hands, and made Kiryat Gat defend longer possessions. That approach created open looks from beyond the arc and opened driving lanes once the home defense began closing out harder.

Kiryat Gat’s best moments came when the game slowed down and the ball went inside. The home side was effective when it established position near the basket and forced help defenders to commit. However, turnovers and empty possessions in transition prevented Kiryat Gat from sustaining those runs. Raanana’s ability to convert defensive stops into points was the clearest difference in the final score.

Standout Performers

Maccabi Raanana’s backcourt controlled the pace and consistently found the right matchup. The guards combined scoring pressure with steady distribution, while the wing rotation knocked down timely shots and contributed on the defensive boards. It was a collective effort rather than a one-man show, which made the visitors difficult to defend.

For Maccabi Kiryat Gat, the interior players carried much of the scoring load and kept the team within reach through the first half. The home side also received energy from its bench, but the offensive consistency needed to match Raanana’s second-half surge never fully arrived.

Season Impact

The win gives Maccabi Raanana a valuable road result and a confidence boost in the Israel Basketball League standings. Road victories are often decisive in a tight table, and this performance showed the team can defend its advantage when the pace increases.

Maccabi Kiryat Gat, meanwhile, will look at the third-quarter stretch as the point where the game slipped away. The result leaves the club searching for more reliable half-court offense and better ball security against pressure. The final score of 84-96 tells the story of a close first half, a decisive Raanana run, and a road team that executed better when the game demanded it.
