Ironi Nahariya grinded out a 71-58 home win over Elitzur Yavne in the Israel Basketball League on Friday, October 23, 2026. In a game defined by defense and physical play, Nahariya pulled away in the third quarter and protected its lead with disciplined half-court execution.

Match overview

The first half was a low-scoring, defensive struggle. Both teams struggled to find clean looks from the perimeter, and the paint was crowded whenever either side tried to drive. Ironi Nahariya held a narrow lead after the first quarter and extended it slightly before halftime by forcing turnovers and converting transition opportunities.

Elitzur Yavne stayed within reach early in the third quarter, but Nahariya responded with a decisive run built on defensive stops and second-chance points. The visitors never recovered offensively, and Nahariya controlled the tempo the rest of the way. The 71-58 final score was a fair reflection of the home side’s control over the final 20 minutes.

Key moments

• Nahariya opened the third quarter with a 10-2 run to create separation.
• Elitzur Yavne went more than five minutes without a field goal during that stretch.
• Nahariya sealed the win with strong defensive rebounding and free throws in the fourth quarter.

Tactical story

Ironi Nahariya’s half-court defense was the foundation of the win. The home side closed driving lanes, contested jump shots, and forced Elitzur Yavne into late-clock attempts. Nahariya also controlled the defensive glass, limiting Yavne’s second-chance opportunities and allowing its own offense to play at a comfortable pace.

Elitzur Yavne’s shooting struggles were compounded by turnovers in the third quarter. The visitors tried to pressure Nahariya full-court in the fourth, but Nahariya’s guards handled the pressure well and found open teammates. Offensively, Nahariya was not explosive, but it was efficient enough in the paint and at the free-throw line to keep Yavne at arm’s length.

Standout performers

Daniel Sasson led Ironi Nahariya with 18 points and 12 rebounds, anchoring the defense and scoring key baskets in the third-quarter run. Oren Levy added 13 points and five assists, while Beni Cohen contributed 11 points and seven rebounds. For Elitzur Yavne, Ori Levi scored 15 points, and Nadav Shalom added 12 points and nine rebounds in a losing effort.

Season impact

The win gives Ironi Nahariya a solid home result in the Israel Basketball League standings and reinforces its identity as a defense-first team. Elitzur Yavne will look to rediscover its shooting touch after a difficult night, but the loss also highlighted the value of controlling the glass and limiting turnovers. In a competitive league, low-scoring games like this often come down to which team executes better in the third quarter, and Nahariya won that battle decisively.
