Borneo Hornbills Dominate Pacific Caesar Surabaya 73-50 in IBL Cup

Borneo Hornbills delivered a commanding 73-50 victory over Pacific Caesar Surabaya in the Indonesia IBL Cup on 27 October 2026. A strong defensive performance and a balanced offensive attack allowed the Hornbills to control the game from the opening quarter.

The final margin reflected Borneo’s superiority on both ends. Pacific Caesar struggled to find rhythm against a physical defense, while the Hornbills capitalized on turnovers and dominated the paint.

Match overview

Borneo set the tone early with an aggressive start and never allowed Pacific Caesar to settle. The quarter scores told the story of a steadily widening gap:

• First quarter: Borneo 20-12 Pacific Caesar
• Second quarter: Borneo 18-14 Pacific Caesar
• Third quarter: Borneo 17-13 Pacific Caesar
• Fourth quarter: Borneo 18-11 Pacific Caesar

By half-time, the Hornbills held a 38-26 lead. They extended the advantage in the third quarter and closed the game with another strong defensive stretch in the fourth.

Key moments

The Hornbills opened with a 10-2 run that forced an early Pacific Caesar timeout. The momentum stayed with Borneo when its bench provided energy in the second quarter, helping push the lead to double digits.

Any hopes of a Pacific Caesar comeback were snuffed out early in the third quarter. Borneo produced a 9-0 burst, capped by a fast-break dunk, to make it 47-28 and effectively put the game out of reach.

Tactical story

Borneo’s defense was the foundation of the win. The Hornbills pressured ball handlers, rotated quickly on the perimeter, and forced Pacific Caesar into contested shots. They also controlled the defensive glass, limiting second-chance points and allowing their guards to push the pace.

Offensively, Borneo shared the ball well and attacked the rim consistently. When Pacific Caesar collapsed into the paint, the Hornbills made the extra pass and found open shooters. Pacific Caesar, by contrast, relied too heavily on isolation plays and struggled to string together consistent scoring runs.

Standout performers

Borneo’s frontcourt dominated the boards and protected the rim, while the backcourt set the tempo and converted turnovers into easy transition points. Pacific Caesar’s best moments came from individual drives, but the team never found a sustained offensive rhythm.

Season impact

The win strengthens Borneo Hornbills’ position in the IBL Cup and sends a clear message about their defensive potential. Pacific Caesar will need to regroup quickly, improve their ball movement, and find more consistent scoring in their next outing.
